spectre
1. It would have kept Crapthan out - Best reason 2. Sense of deep strong batting lineup, so batsman can bat freely, Dhoni would not have gone to such extent of tuk-tuk considering he had only Yusuf after him 3. Dhoni would have been forced to come down the order, so less tuk-tuk 4. Dhoni would have been forced to play three seamers Zak, Ishant, RP/ Praveen and Bhajji / Ojha, so he would have used partimers like Raina/Yuvi and Rohit more often 5. Above all Sehwag is Sehwaaack Link to comment
Guest gaurav_indian
Atleast Pathan did better than Ishant Sharma.Ishant is doing nothing. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Why pathan? He bowled well . He went for just 8 runs against Gayle inside powerplay. Bowling cannot do anything against this total. Link to comment

The Outsider
Rohit Sharma would have been playing in the middle order where he is so dangerous. Link to comment
Dhondy
Just one innings, that blinding 60-odd in the last 20-20 WC against England by Sehwag, and nothing else to show for. Am I correct in recalling that he didn't play the finals? India can manage without him, but they don't inspire the same admiration, the same fear in the opposition. with Sehwag in the side, India have an aura that defeats sides even before the match has started. With him out, they look beatable. Link to comment

goose
he is easily the most fearless cricketer going. that is a difficult thing to overcome in an opponent. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Yes Sehwag's absence is a big loss. But we pride ourselves in dealing with absence of players better than some of the other teams. If Dhoni plays like the Dhoni we initially knew, all these discussions would have been redundant. Look at the runs we leak in the last 2 overs in every match. It is invariably around 30 runs. Let us fix what we can fix not worry about things that are not in our hands. Link to comment
vipin
If Sehwag was there , it would have been more psychological than anything else. What Sehwag does is he knocks off the good balls of the opposition's best bowlers off to the boundary with alarming regularity , so much that they start believing these are bad balls. Even if he gets out early , it helps the other batsmen as the bowlers bowl more bad balls to them. But with the IPL and 22 ranji teams , if we allow the absence of a couple of players to affect our morale, it will be a shame. No one can be expected to win the world cup every time. But it will surely give our younger players the experience and fine tuning they need. We have an ODI series to west indies following the world cup and i believe even dhoni should take a rest from that series along with sachin (and sehwag of course) and give a couple of young players like virat kohli/rahane a go. It will be good to see a young team playing for india. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Remember India won against favorites South Africa last time without Yuvraj . We should back our team no matter who plays. It is just that Dhoni was not this terrible last time. Infact Dhoni was one of the main threat to the opposition. This time he is our main threat. Because of his slowness if puts extra pressure on other batsmen to score quicker. Link to comment
