King Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 No big deal... just another tourney. T20 WC loss doesn't hurt as much as a test match loss or a ODI series loss yet so no damage done. Twice they came close to winning but lost out closely. No big deal, world isn't coming to end because they lost out on a T20 WC.
MarathaPride Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Apology accepted:hatsoff: Altho..I hope Dhoni and team learn from the (many) mistakes made in the WC.
yoda Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 And you know how that they did not give their best? Stop the nonsense. You have agreed with many here about Dhoni's piss poor batting, the poor batting order, etc. You want me to rehash everything that has been discussed last 2 days is it? What is the big problem with accepting what people post instead of always trying to start an argument?
Ram Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Its a'right skip. We win some, we lose some, thats how the game works. We understand. :icflove:

Criticizing Dhoni's poor batting or batting order is different from saying they did not give their best which implies they knowingly underperformed. Do you have any reasons to back it up? I see no reason to accept what one line specialists like you post about "not giving their best" with nothing to back it up.

When we say a team didn't give it's best, it is not about knowingly or unknowingly, it is about them not performing to their potential or what is expected of them. It could be due to several factors, including poor preparation (practice, picking XI, picking batting order), poor execution, bad decisions at crucial moments, etc. Anyways, you don't have to accept what I post. May be you can ignore and move on instead of making me sit and type a response to a meaningless reply to an obvious statement of mine.
King Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Oh well.... relax guys. It's not like he has lost every possible series of late. He has led to an overseas ODI and test victory a couple of months ago and led CSK to semis folks. Give him some leeway.

Do you have any reasons to back it up? I see no reason to accept what one line specialists like you post about "not giving their best" with nothing to back it up. How do you explain the poor fielding ? For example, Raina didn't even make an effort to run towards the ball hit towards him to prevent the extra run. Even you alluded to their poor fielding in a previous post which cost us 10 odd extra runs. Even a good fielder like Yuvi's mis-fields cost us 4 byes. Their is a possibility of lack of effort when guys like Ishant refuse to bend their backs and bowl the effort ball , au contraire all English bowlers bent their backs to bowl pacy short of length deliveries to our batsmen.
fineleg Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 More nonsense. Who said "not giving their best" == "Knowingly underperforming" :hmmmm:
yoda Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Exactly. Who said "not giving their best" == "Knowingly underperforming" :hmmmm: Guess we have to ask the high IQ ones. :giggle:

Why didnt Dhoni even attempt to get a second run of the penultimate delivery of the match? Given that they had nothing to lose and YKP had just hit a six the previous ball?
fineleg Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Why didnt Dhoni even attempt to get a second run of the penultimate delivery of the match? Given that they had nothing to lose and YKP had just hit a six the previous ball? I thought of that, but this instance it is not Dhoni's mistake. There would have been a 100% run out if a second run was attempted.

There would have been a 100% run out if a second run was attempted.[/quote'] We had a glimpse of England's running out ability, esp. in the last over of England vs Holland match didnt we? Not blaming him here but it wud hav been worth a shot.
Params7 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Damn Dhoni, I don't even care you don't bat that well anymore, but you can be a good captain if you can stop making some stupid decisions like you did with Ishant Sharma in the last 2 games. This experience was vital for Dhoni, you can't win until you learn to lose first..so as long as he stays persistent, focuses on his mistakes and keeps fighting, he gets my respect.
Prudent Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 ^ If you saw the matches' date=' you can see they lacked intensity and focus on the field. You can compare it to how our team plays when they give it their best and show the steely determination. This tournament (esp. Super-8) - certainly they did not give it their best.[/quote'] What if Sree had dropped that catch? :cantstop:
vipin Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Exactly. Who said "not giving their best" == "Knowingly underperforming" :hmmmm: Not giving the best = Tried to give the best. Its a psychological thing. So it means we didnt do any letup knowingly. Now you would say why didnt yuvraj hit 6 sixes in an over because that is his best and he performed below his best. Thats not how it works.
varun Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Sorry but there seemed to be a distinct lack of well-directed effort, preparation and cohesiveness from the Indians today. Case in point: immediately after the Ireland match, the English came out as a team and immediately went about their drills. The Indians arrived late, didn't come in together as one cohesive unit, but came in bunches of twos and threes with no vigor. Right from the get go it was a rather ominous sign that the team seemed so fragmented
