Cricketics Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Has anyone here ever been on a Cruise? How was it like and where did you go??? I am planning one this Christmas or may be a bit later. What places have you been to or would love to go to??
Aditi Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I went on the Carnival Mexican Riviera cruise with my parents last September and it was AWESOME! It's a 7 day cruise and stops at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. There's something to do for everyone on the boat and the sightseeing tours are fantastic. The food is good too :--D http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/destination/Mexico/itineraries.aspx?subRegionCode=MR&sort=3 Might go on an Alaska cruise in July or August.

No disrespect, but cruise with PARENTS ? :hysterical::hysterical:
Mr. Wicket Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Went on a couple w/ the Royal Caribbean company through Alaska and Scandinavia, and another (with a company I forget) down the line from Cairo thru Aswan. All phenomenal experiences.
Aditi Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 No disrespect' date=' but cruise with PARENTS ? :hysterical::hysterical:[/quote'] Well it was the last few days before I left the US to get married in India and settle in Australia...so yeah I didn't mind it one bit :)
fineleg Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Interested in going on one - perhaps Royal Carribean or Celebrity cruises. ticz - I've heard good stuff about these two lines. Celebrity is good but bit more expensive, may still be worth paying the extra.
Mr. Wicket Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 fineleg, RC is significantly better if you're going up into Alaska or Europe. Celebrity is better if you're staying around Florida/Bahamas/Caribbean.
fineleg Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Thanks Salil. What about Norweigian Cruise Line (NCL). Any good/bad reviews?
Mr. Wicket Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 No experience with them, no contacts w/ anyone who has had such experiences. That said - I did go on a 2 week cruise on RC starting from London, going through Oslo, Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg (3 day stop) and Tallinn before returning and it was a truly amazing experience. Couldn't have asked for anything more, in between what we were able to see/do in the cities, activities on the ship (RC's new ships especially are PHENOMENAL) and service in general. Great combination of sheer pampered luxury and some great sightseeing/historical explorations in some of the cities.
vipin Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Not exactly a cruise. But on a houseboat through the sunderbans for 3days/3 nights. Right upto the mouth of the bay of bengal.
Bumblebee Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 well i went on a cruise from helsinki to stockholm! was just awsome!! there were soo many small islands on the way and huge houses actually people own those islands! the cruise was awsome from casino's to mini golf to disco's was an amazing experience!
ludhianvi Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Well when I watch desi tv, there are always these ads about 'Masala cruises' :giggle: I think they're targeted towards desis. Some samples :D [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yfnc1KTUKk4]YouTube - Masala Cruises[/ame]
The Outsider Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 What are you people? 60+ geriatrics to go on cruises!
fineleg Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 ^ Huh? There are many people in 20s and 30s who go for cruises. Where did you get that idea it is for older people!! Some myth that.
Cricketics Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 'tics...go Caribbean? Who u going with Haven't decided that yet man.. It just came to my mind and a created a thread on it.. @ other posters in this thread. Places like Hawaii, Alaska, Caribean have to be the best places for Cruise for sure..
Cricketics Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 What are you people? 60+ geriatrics to go on cruises! O come on.. it's for those nature lovers, its for those who love beauty, adventure through navigation.
The Outsider Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 O come on.. it's for those nature lovers' date=' its for those who love beauty, adventure through navigation.[/quote'] Nature loving on a cruise!!! You love and enjoy nature by living and being in it not by sitting in a ship with cocktails, swimming pools, and luxury bedrooms and looking at it through binoculars!!
Mr. Wicket Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Agree. The whole point of a cruise is just being pampered and having a great time. Although the offshore excursions on some do allow you some great experiences (kayaking in Alaska or Copenhagen = amazing!). And there aren't anywhere NEAR as many geriatrics as you think and a lot more yengsters.
