Hi DomainK. I have visited the forums where I know Atul Sharma goes to read what people are saying about him. There are 5 of them - this and ** are two of the better known. So I hope I am not being a 'dumb teenager' by asking people if they have seen him. A few of his friends are on here too, so I hope to find something out. You clearly don't know the Indian legal system, which can take years. And then people have to show up in court. I hope no one ever shafts you for money. I have now learned not to trust people at all. It has just spolied it for all my other players, who are totally trustworthy.

Hello Ian, I understand your anguish and anger at the comments. However, you must be quite familiar with the Indian trait of hailing mini stars as superheroes and then dumping them. That is very much at play here among some of the posters as you can clearly see. Why don't you give us an idea of what really happened? This seems like a pretty elaborate con game from what you seem to hint.

how could he hijack IPL???i mean its strange that a player who can bowl with such pace(according to you)..and so much passion for bowling that for 3 years he did nothing else but learn how to bowl would vanish like this.It all looks so improbable or impossible.....though i believe it is sad and desplicable that he ran away with your money. I'm completely aware with the Indian legal system but if you have any solid documentary proof of him taking money from you and if you have his address please file a case i'm sure that will at least force him to come out in the open.....and then may be you can negotiate.........anyways....best of luck we will appreciate it Ian if you could elaborate what exactly transpired?So that we know the truth about this man called Atul...

I have explained this SO many times to others but let me try just one more time - and for the last time. AS wanted me to help him get some awareness so he could get an IPL team. I agreed to do that. Anyone on here who is Indian knows that an individual cannot promote himself to India and keep respect or credibility. And as I helped AS go from a medium pace bowler into a genuniely fast bowler, and I am a scout for first-class players, I agreed to help him get known. Other coaches, such as his javelin coach in the US, have reported high arm speeds so we used this to further develop interest in AS. Due to the video clips that were going around, Raj Royals showed interest in signing him. What happened next I don't quite understand myself since AS negotiated with them directly and met them in India. He also met with Mr Modi and was sent out to Australia to have his action checked by Greg Chappell. All this is well-known. From that point onwards (January/February) the story took it's own course. TV companies, newspapers and magazines started to get interested in AS so the rounds of interviews and comments started. You must also understand that posters on web forums also got involved and started to hype AS to ridiculous levels - saying he was the 'saviour' of Indian cricket and crap like that. This is what got out of hand. None of the coaches who have seen Atul or worked with him were saying any such rubbish, but no one wanted to listen. People simply started to either say he was a hero or a fake, with no idea what they were talking about. So I understand why threads on AS have become incredible. AapTak TV didn't help with their ridiculous interview which made AS sound like a legend before he's even bowled a ball. They interviewed AS directly and did not speak with me. But AS was calling me excitedly to say his friends in India were saying the country had gone mad over his story. And every time something appeared he would get lots of emails and text messages. AS got injured while out in South Africa and didn't make the Raj Royals training camp. But mysteriously, they didn't cut AS from the squad. Instead they kept his name in. AS told me he always wanted to play and was having treatment, but ran out of time. So he never took up the IPL contract with Raj Royals. And now we are where we are - except I am owed money by AS, which has not been paid to me and I am no longer his coach. The bottom line is that AS can bowl fast. That was always true. But too many people said whacky things about what he was capable of and it got twisted around. I always told AS he had to play a game SOMEWHERE but he never wanted to - instead preferring to train and bowl in the nets. So I have no idea if he can bowl fast in matches. The AS story did hijack the IPL somewhat as everyone seemed to be talking about this mystery bowler yet no one knew his whereabouts. And now I don't either, as I don't have his address. So I would appreciate it if people got off MY back as I only tried to help AS in the way he asked me to and do what he wanted. He has kept a low profile to avoid any criticism. Ian are you working with any Indian bowler who is amy where near 90mph consistently????Let one person not detract you from finding the next express bowler in world cricket.On another note,if AS really owes you substantial money,please go out to the law enforcing agencies and media houses who hyped AS so that some recourse is taken.BTW do you have any idea where and what AS is doing?I mean you have his address and contact no. in India,Give law a go.......GOOD LUCK

This is one of the reason why i hate hyping players before they arrive at the scene. Padosis do that even before he starts to walk.General theory of padosi goes like this. He might be able to bowl fast, but so bloody what! Bowling in a cricket match is so much more than bowling phaasht. The hype generated and sustained by Indian fans about the guy was in no way less than any hype ever generated by Pakis. How long could he sustain his speed? What were his plans of action if the batsmen clipped him for two boundaries through mid wicket? How would he react to being upper cut over the slips? Did he even know enough about cricket to set fields and plan attacks according to the batsman's technique? I had raised similar points when Ian first posted about him here, but it was all about phaasht bowling from a significant section of the fans. And of course the Indian junk media like Aaj Tak with their jhola sporting reporters need no second invitation to hype someone up for a spicy story!

he has every right to post here and clarify his stand.......he is a respected coach who has been maligned because of one of his trainees actions.......i fully support Ian on this
