Not an ABCD, but I have an extremely strong socal (southern california) accent (lived there for 10 years since I was 14 before going to NY)...i have tried to tone it down, but i have grown used to non-socal-ers taking the p*ss outta me because of that...:giggle: Maggot/Anon/Sooda - You guys have touched upon the subject of Paks in the UK. As a side question..what is the overall relationship like between Indians and Pak's out there? Some say all is fine..some other disagree. When I was in college a couple of years back..we had a Sikh UK fellow join as an international transfer. He would tell us stories of Pakistani gangs (Chalvey boys, Al Muhajiron) squaring off against Sikh and Hindu groups (Sher-e-Punjab) causing tensions. He mentioned the areas of Slough and Southall were the main areas where these activities took place. Can you guys comment on this aspect as well? CricketGirl/Fineleg/Gambit/UK desis/UK paks on this forum - feel free to jump in on this as well. The reason I am asking this question is that I thought the chap was just messing around...but after seeing some recent youtube videos of Indians and Pakistanis squaring off against each other, I decided maybe he wasnt joking around after all. For example, see the youtube vid below..the description says that there was a fight afterwards between the two groups. So what say guys/gals...do homeland tensions spill over into angrez land..or are these very minor incidents and everything is generally hunky dory between the two groups.. All your comments are, as always, very much appreciated...:two_thumbs_up: about 90% of the asians at my school were pakistani so with a bit of diplomacy you learn to live with it yeah every now and again there is tension like MB suggested during the gujji stuff happening etc! on the flip side some of my best friends are also pakistani and you do learn accept that people are just people sometimes u have to put ur differences aside!!

Casteism is a form of racism and we seem to be still in denial.. My mom saw my photo with a friend of mine who happens to be of african origin. Her expression said it all :omg::omg::omg: BTW... Second and third generation Indians in the UK seem to discriminate against their own countrymen who are there for the first time. My friend had a very bad experience. A phd student, he was working in a small gujju owned supermarket part time and he was constantly subjected to third rate treatment. His salary was actually thrown at his face and I am not exaggerating here... No offence CG, am not generalising..

WTF do they thing makes them superior to their own countrymen. A caucasian justifies it by the skin color and ethnicity.. My friend was so traumatised by this that he wanted to quit his research ( his living costs were dependent on this part time work). He could not bear the fact that fellow Indians were treating him like that. There were so many other things they did to him which I dont wanna reveal here that would make the BNP pale in comparison..
