Dhondy The part you mention about journalism and giving up day jobs, is this for real? and TV Interview - this stuff has actually happened?

Posted
did he actually resign from his day job to pursue journalism? but...we can't deny ** has improved, not in the level of posters or anything, but the fact that they can get interviews with famous cricketers, are in close touch with current players, and even get their names mentioned on Cricinfo articles. They also recently streamlines a fast bowler from a village and he's now playing first class cricket! BTW Dhondy, did you watch that akhara interview on youtube or on TV? can you post the link...seems hilarious.
There is a huge difference When an Indian cricketer opens the door, there are 2 dozen TV channels, 100 websites and 1 million fans wanting to get in an exclusive When a Pakistan cricketer opens the door, there are merely 10% of that and they are happy to give interviews Their x players won't mind joining the bandwagon, ours are busy doing commentary and other line of work If we really had to pursue it, we might get some oldies but again we have day jobs Try and google Indian cricket websites, how many are there? try that with Pak In additon, due to the close knit Pak population vis-a-vis county players in UK, it becomes easier to arrange such interviews etc You can't compare what another website does to ours ..and don't forget the BCCI, we have so much legality that everyone is worried about being politically correct

Come on, that's a cheap shot and you know it. The fact that so called " puke p" is being mentioned on this site like its some enigma is a clear indication of the stronghold of the site over the Indians on this site. Basically, you guys including probably Dhondy gets schooled by the mods there, and to vent out their anger come 'home' and take cheap shots at the p-* site and the pakistani fans in general. When you should not give a hoot about any other site, especially that is a rival of this one, you guys cant stop but mentioning it. No one even mentions of Icf there. Talk about mental disintegration, that you give free publicity. You guys still have catching up to do. The site is in disarray- compare the homepages for a start Thank you , come again. Grow up, get a life, or live a life.

Zubin, you'll think I am really sad, but I actually watched one of those PukeP bosses who fancies himself as a journo on a Pakistani TV channel, being interviewed by a chap whose main area of expertise was wrestling. I kid you not, it was the most enjoyable interview I've ever watched. As our wannabe journo friend valiantly tried to steer the conversation to cricket in his very thick Brummie accent, the interviewer kept bringing up concepts such as "akhara", "chit..pat", and various holds around the neck. There was another bloke alongside him who had played a couple of matches for Pakistan and promptly taken up coaching in England, no doubt to wreck generations of Pommie cricketers. That fella wisely kept his counsel and didn't speak much. Our Brummie friend expostulated, explained, and expanded with self importance until he was the size of a balloon carrying Sir Richard Branson into space. It was quite enjoyable really.
lmaoooo i just watched this interview the guy was asking him questionz in urdoo but the wannabe journo guy kept giving answers in english, wtf

Dhondy, whom are you referring to here? I agree with your posts but can't get the underlying message particularly with regards to the "Journo".

Dhondy' date=' whom are you referring to here? I agree with your posts but can't get the underlying message particularly with regards to the "Journo".[/quote'] There are some up and coming journalists who'll make Neville Cardus look like a beginner, Ravi. They might occasionally confuse a cricket pitch with an akhara, but they have taken Rapidex English courses, same as our Inzibhai, and are now dying to display their newfound linguistic skills. Unfortunately, their unsuspecting victims, their perennially vanquished cricketers, blanch at the volley of incomprehensible gibberish spouting forth from stange looking characters with borrowed, moth eaten microphones in the front row (turned up the night before to get a good seat at the press conference, innit?), and their spouses give them the rolling pin treatment when they get back home for having given up their day jobs to pursue their misguided "passion." A man can't win, can he?

whoa whoa whoa...hang on b. When did i even compare what this site does to what ** does? chill man All I'm saying is that what they've done is pretty good and even this journalist guy is trying his best to do what he likes to do. That's pretty commendable. Imagine if muhammad irfan makes it, he'll have ** to thank for it because they literally picked him up out of nowhere. That's amazing isn't it?

You are being too charitable on this garbage of a team pretending to pass off as a test team, Dhondy. Replace these fools with a bunch of folks dressed in whites from the Nirma washing powder ad, the result wont be too different. This team requires much worse ridicule, Dhondy, age and experience has softened you.:--D Though a dead horse, flogging it is no less fun. Have been busy with travel among other thiings, will sharpen my scalpel (currently soaking in brine) & roll out some myself pretty soon. To qualify my post (so it fits into a cricket forum), some comments on this overrated team. An absolutely *****y team that has truly shown where it belongs (its T20 success not withstanding). And to think that MoYo, Akhtar, Razzaq et al had to be unbanned and available for selection, for the same result we have witnessed from this donkey of a team is only sympotamatic of the poverty of Pak cricket. Pak's cricket just like its nation is paying the price for being myopic all the way. Its a Lankan B team that has inflicted this wound afterall. If I were a pak cricket fan, I'll simply increase my dosage and keep living in my fantasy land. The present is too harsh to live in & unfortunately the future is only gonna get worse.

Mate ICF is mentioned frequently there as the Indian fans site. Either u have poor eye sight or else difficulty comprehending english.. Its u who needs to grow up. Open ur eyes and check for urself..We are not obsessed with ur BS. Dont ever compare Puke P with ICF, its like comparing ur fart with a Clive Christian perfume. Do u have any idea what ICF posters do in real life? They are not some *****y second or third generation paki kids sitting in a foreign country. Dhondy is far better than ur inhouse sports journalists who pretend to be leaving their day jobs when they have none. What do u see in the Puke homepage that is worth mentioning? Threads full of religious overtones, WTF if Irfan marries a hindu, instead of congratulating him, u guys ponder over whether this is a conspiracy by Bal thakeray to convert all muslims...This is just one among countless examples. If i had posted the same in ur Puke site, my post wud have been deleted by now. yours is still here.

Or is it that Monga and co have got it right and we have the wrong end of the stick. You can never tell with Pakistan. Dilshan was done in by an umpiring error but the rest of the wickets were well earned on an excellent batting pitch. Some really determined batting followed to ensure that they had pulled ahead by the end. Think of this, guys: it's been over a hundred years since a side came back from being bundled out for less than a hundred in the first innings to win a Test match. What odds of that happening here? If it does, I'm prepared to put my hand up and say I got it wrong. Sri Lanka have been seriously slipshod , but you can only play as well as the opposition lets you, and credit to a team who looked down and out just 24 hours ago for winning the day handsomely. Will they win the match though? With three days left, a result is very much on the cards, and if I were SL, I wouldn't fancy batting last on this track, chasing 300-odd. I actually think the target will be even stiffer.

Dhondy, its odds are less if you look at it that way. But take into consideration that more than half and the difficult half has been done. Pakistan has come back into the match strongly, have wiped the lead out and look in a very good position to set a monstrous target. From there, it looks very likely...especially with the likes of YK, Moyo and Akmal yet to come. If they play seriously, with the pitch behaving itself now and with as many as three days left, they can set a target of 350 (can be more, but even 350 will be a challenging one) and set the bowlers to work. From here on, the chances of a Pakistan victory looks very bright. Srilankan batting is all about Sanga and Mahela.
