No laughs from me. I am a fan of tests first. I was shocked at Galle, shocked mostly by the 2nd innings at Colombo. I was not massively surprised but severely disappointed. But I was happy to see my team playing tests abroad for the first time in 2 years. I fully believe that with more tests, we will play better and things will get better. We have been in winning positions but totally flunked it. With more tests, we can get into the position to do well. P.S. Dhondy, I was at Manchester 2006 to see 119 ao- not pleasant.

Zubin, you'll think I am really sad, but I actually watched one of those PukeP bosses who fancies himself as a journo on a Pakistani TV channel, being interviewed by a chap whose main area of expertise was wrestling. I kid you not, it was the most enjoyable interview I've ever watched. As our wannabe journo friend valiantly tried to steer the conversation to cricket in his very thick Brummie accent, the interviewer kept bringing up concepts such as "akhara", "chit..pat", and various holds around the neck. There was another bloke alongside him who had played a couple of matches for Pakistan and promptly taken up coaching in England, no doubt to wreck generations of Pommie cricketers. That fella wisely kept his counsel and didn't speak much. Our Brummie friend expostulated, explained, and expanded with self importance until he was the size of a balloon carrying Sir Richard Branson into space. It was quite enjoyable really.

Dhoni makes a very important point when India don't do well. He says that it's important that key players do well. That lifts the team, enthuses juniors and sets a benchmark for the future. When Misbah came on the scene and after a couple of Akmal's innings against India and one in SA, Pakistan must have felt that they had a middle order to last them a generation. Akmal has failed in all the four innings so far. Misbah hasn't done much better. Yousuf scored one fortuitous ton after being out at least twice and Younis has just one knock to show for in the series- the one today. Even he was out LBW yesterday, not given. At the start of this match, I was exhorting the Pakistani openers to just stay there and see off the new ball, so that Younis, Yousuf and co could get a chance to display their wares. They really had looked like rabbit caught in the headlights against the SL medium pacers in the 2nd innings at Galle and the first innings here. That happened in the second innings. Both openers did hugely well, saw off the new ball, and Younis and Alam then sawthe team through to the 2nd new ball. As soon as the second new ball was taken though, it was clear that none of the Pakistani middle order bats had the faintest idea how to play either pacer or spinner. As a captain, Younis should have known this, That reverse sweep to the part timer, with the 2nd new ball approaching, was criminal. Quite clearly he has no insight into the frailties of his own team members.

Remember :- And you can take this to the bank -- That f'ing nation has hit a bottomless pit. For it to even find support -- a MAJOR change in multiple disciplines -- alike from Citizens as well the Govt is required !
