Vijay is in sublime touch. He is well equipped against short balls as well. Hope he is considered.
Let's not forget he is playing short balls against the Indian bowlers, who have no idea of how to use it. Also the subcontinental pitches does not allow the ball to skid off the pitch. Having said that, Vijay is looking in good touch.

Having said that, Vijay is looking in good touch.[/quote'] I am talking about the technique. Unlike other Indian players who generally commits to frontfoot first and then gets into ugly positions he waits until it pitches. He gets on top of the ball. He played Peter siddle and Brett lee very well in his debut Test. He has great balance something i don't see in players like Badrinath.

Dhawan and Vijay have a good understanding apparently, so the commentry says on cricinfo. Somewhat surprising. How many times would they have played together? Must speak english to each other innit? Future India opening combo? Maybe in a few years, post SRT? Dhawan would have played in Lanka last year had he not got injured and Virat chosen instead

With a series as big as seven matches. I hope a quality plyer like Dhawan is given a chance. Come on selectors. This guy is due for a long long time now. He has been waiting for a long time now. We have given the chance to ageing players like Badrinath etc, why not given this youngster a chance too.

^agree. If Dhawan and Murali both should be given longer rope.
I'm sure this current selection panel has made it clear that they are looking for a guy like Murali Vijay to be selected in ODI's too if he plays well in List A games. Before touted as just a test batsman, he is starting to show his batting grace in List A too. Surely with so much talk about rotation policy etc, we can try these guys like Vijay, Dhawan etc.

Tanmay Srivastav. I didn't watch him bat today but read that he scored 41. This guy can bat. He scored most runs for India in Under 19 wc last year which we won. He should be given good amount of chances in those board x1 games and India A games. I believe he has a very good potential to be our future opener.

^ good knock by Srivastav today And pretty good ones it seems from Jaffer and more importantly Mukund too, who seems to be in pretty good form- in line for a ODI call up mayhaps? Yeah, bit early, Dhaw and Vij are ahead in the Q

Oh and... 19.4 Dinda to Raina, OUT, short ball and Raina looking to run it down, gets the edge to Dhoni, who takes the catch low to his left. SK Raina c †Dhoni b Dinda 1 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00 Raina once again gets out to a short delivery. Even domestic trundlers are shortballing him out

Srivastava didn't try to go for shots. But i must say bowling quality is very very poor. Srees to some extent was good. Dinda was okay in patches. But overall it was 'Trundlers conference'. Batsmen had merry. But Vijay was very impressive with his footwork, defense, balance.
