Sharma to Harbhajan Singh, FOUR, reaches out and spanks a lollipop outside the off stump, slower ball but misdirected and Harbhajan beats mid-off comfortably Sharma to Harbhajan Singh, FOUR, so far so good! Ishant drops it wide of the off stump and Harbhajan bashes that past mid-off, nobody had to move Sharma to Harbhajan Singh, FOUR, crisp timing there, half volley outside off and Harbhajan uses the pace of the ball to punch it away off the front foot past mid-off who was up close Sharma to Kumar, FOUR, good shot, dished out short and wide outside off, he reaches out, rolls his wrists and thumps it well wide of backward point, third man could have cut that off with a bit more effort Sharma to Dhoni, FOUR, short and wide, poor delivery, Dhoni makes room and crashes it over point for a boundary, atrocious ball and appropriately dealt with
I am not watching this game but Ishant is doing the same mistake he has done in past 6 months or so. Short and wide :bhejafry:. If anyone who is watching the game, can you please let us know if Ishant is bowling closer to the stumps (like he use to in Aus) ? From what I have seen in the international fixtures Ishant is not bowling closer to the stumps and this is what (I feel) is prompting him to drop it short and wide outside off stump. P.S: This is what makes Munna economical bowler. He bowls very close to the stumps and hits the proper line and length in that process. If there is no swing in the offering IS should go close to the stumps and worry about his line and length.

Actually I am following this game, and he was bowling well. He was pitching bhajji good length deliveries whcih bhajji wasn't able to face. so to get him out, he changed the field and decided to bowl half volleys. I think he was sort of unplayable today. Though bhajji made a good use of one of his short delivery and whacked it away for a classy boundary to sum up, not the best of bowling from him, but the best seamer today perhap among the ones who bowled on this wicket

bb, short and wide is not a mistake, its a capital crime. A bowler like that should not be a part of even a school team. I have no idea how the hell an international bowler can repeatedly bowl short and wide?:wall:

I am watching it. He continues to dish out craps.
I know this will be a rhetorical question but is there any swing in the offing ? Is Ishant bowling from closer towards the stumps ?

I have no idea how the hell an international bowler can repeatedly bowl short and wide?:wall:[/quote'] One logical reason would be he is trying to extract the bounce out of the pitch. He was successful doing so in Australia but he got to realize that Indian pitches are never meant to be extracting bounce out of it. If there is a swing offered, use it or just stick to line and length. Nothing can be done about the bounce or the extra pace you are trying to gather. P.S: He worked out Haydos with this very bowling style (Short and wide....but the ball really kicked off the pitch and he got some terrific pace too).

Time for ONE more rant: MSD's captaincy is totally cynical in this game. How and Why the eff would you send Bhajji as a pinch hitter when the target is not impossible ? He should have sent Yusuf Pathan in and evaluate how YK judges the situation and how he handles it. Indian players never seem to use series like these prudently and end up making a just for the sakes of the tournament. Moreover, MSD himself needs to find his form and get out of his tuk-tuk mode. He just got too cocky there by sending Bhajji in.

maybe he is trying to develop Bhaji into an all-rounder. But he may have forgot that Bhaji is bowling crap these days. I don't agree with the move either. Its highly unlikely they'll do something like this in a proper game, so why waste time. They need to be taking this a bit more seriously. Its a brilliant opportunity for the team to work on problems and try out new things which they could actually use in a match situation.

Bhajji is bowling crap because most of the time he has to come in powerplay and then bowl. What do you expect the spinner to do here? To flight the ball so that batsman can easily clear the infield for a boundary? Either too early or too late..he is bowling. I don't think Dhoni is able handling Bhajji very well. And Dhoni doesn't want the tail to be non existent. All the bowlers have to learn to hold the bat and score few runs if need arises. Just remember who won the matches for Australia against WI and Pak in CT!

well the thing is that ishanth has the capability to bring the ball nip back in from outside the off stump... due to his grip on the seam and his release. he is not able to get it right these days. munaf cannot swing as well as ishanth, pathan or rp (in thier good form). munaf is primarily a line length bowler. munaf can be used in one dayers... considering the lack of options. but for test cricket we need ishanth back in good form because he is more penetrating than munaf.

Ishant has never bowled close to the stumps not in even Austalia. He is a mixed action bowler the problem with him is the slight change in action which is not going well, now his left shoulder is going down left side not straight enough, left hand is falling to left side. his balance is not good at the time of delivery.

Bhaji has bowled many overs outside of powerplays too and they were just as bad as the overs he bowled in powerplays. He is one of the senior members in the team, I think the most senior bowler, he should be able to take on some of the extra pressure and work load in difficult situations. Someone with as much experience as him, should be able to do a better job. He was bowling very well a few months back, lately its been poor
