Indian domestic teams vs Australian domestic teams

I was pretty surprised with the performance of the Aussie domestic teams today and I have never seen any of their matches before. Judging by their present performance their domestic teams seem to be just outstanding. It seems that the Aus backup and domestic talent is light years ahead of India judging by their performance today. And both the teams that played today were complete Aussie teams with no international players. The IPL teams have international players and so it would be wrong to compare the talent. But if I just think how would top Indian purely domestic teams like Mumbai or Delhi fare with New South Wales or Victoria then I have to acknowledge that the Indian domestic teams do not stand a chance at all at least in the shorter versions of the game. I am not sure why BCCI is not pumping more money in the domestic setup. The fielding and bowling of the Aus domestic teams are are simply brilliant and the batting also seems to be same if not better than Indian domestic teams. BCCI and Modi has to do something to produce quality bowlers and fielders at the domestic level so that we have better backup in the long run. Anyways I thought that Aus was ending their talent pool with the retirement of Gilly, Hayden and Pidge and that our talent pool was a lot better. But their domestic players/international backups are still very strong and better than any other top cricket nations. Hope BCCI does something quickly before the Aus starts dominating world cricket again. :sniffle:

20 overs game bro, hit and miss. But I do agree with you about about our backups vs their backups. Things like injuries, etc are a part of the game and they could happen to just about anyone. India will need to have a strong bench in order to dominate the world for a long time.

DD vs Bushrangers is a neat comparison. Gambhir and Sehwag are not just DD's openers, but our national teams. Our fielding was made a joke off by the Aussies. Batting as well. And they're the visitors here. Lets see how they do in their second match though. If one of Gambhir or Dilshan had fired then we may have posted a 130'ish total.

but they also are playing with international players like white, hodge, hussey, siddle, harwood, quiny, macdonald etc while DD had viru, gambhir dilshaan, nannes, nehra, mishra kartik as internationals. I think both teams were similar in international players

I think both teams were similar in international players[/quote'] I agree about the international players part but it is not their main international players but mostly their backups who were referred as international because they played a few matches.. if you consider Quiney international then maybe you will also call Rajat Bhatia an internatinal... both have never played a test match, ODI or T20 for their respective country and I dont understand how is that international player :hmmm: .. McDonald has also never played international game .. Harwood has played merely one ODI .. even Karthik has played a lot more than that ... and if you are counting Dilshan, Nannes then you might not have read the post properly.. I said barring the IPL team if we have a completely domestic team like Delhi or Mumbai vs their domestic teams then they are light years ahead... and their bowling and fielding is even better than IPL teams.. so their backups are a lot bigger than us and the chances of them dominating world cricket in the coming years is more than us unless BCCI does something to bring out quality bowlers and fielders at least

IPL teams are a collection of players who normally play for different teams whereas the domestic champion teams like Victoria or NSW or Cobras always play together barring some of their international stars. Therefore the comparison isnt proper. Having said that, the fitness standards, bowling speeds and fielding of some of these domestic teams would put even our national team to shame.

Bhatia is not at all a bad player he is very useful in limited over cricket. Don't go for their pace and built because this is not indians fault. this is genetic and we cant change it. They will always be quicker than indians. they are more powerful people in general than indians. Siddle is regular, hussey is a regular, white is a regular, in fact they played less coz australians dnt bring players in the team very early, hodge has had a good in test cricket. He did not get to play more bcoz AUs selecter want to look ahead and chose ferguson in place of him.

Aus has very few teams and domestic competitions are more important for them compared with India. Because of this, concentration of good players in 1 team compared with India in which good players are spread across 20 or more different state teams is probable. So they will always have a stronger domestic team. Now if India played only Zonal teams, they could field a very a good team too. Besides, this is T20. One bizarre innings/spell could win a game.

Australia allows players to mature fully at the domestic level before injecting them into national side. Indian domestic teams generally have mixture of youth and experienced. You should look at their set up. It is the best domestic set up. They are still at the top despite not having a quality spinner. They are fiercely competitive. They pay attention to every little thing that can enhance performance. Look at the attention they pay to sports science. http://cricket.com.au/default.aspx?s=coe-sports-science

We have 6 states that compete (Northern Territory and Australian Captial Territory (where I'm from) don't compete because of lack of numbers, however ACT and NT cricketers often get signed with other states). There are about 5.4 mil in Victoria, NSW a bit over 7 mil, about 1.6 mil in South Australia, 2.2 mil in Western Australia, a bit over 4 mil in Queensland and only half a million in Tasmania.

Well that and the ACT (Australian Criminal Territory, depending on your political stance) is basically is tiny as hell, basically Canberra + some extra land so it's pointless having its own team.
