Duminy's a great in the making: Ian Chappell

Well, to be fair to Ian, Duminy was simply outstanding in the Aussie summer of '08. How often is it that a rookie visiting batsmen scores big runs to shepherd his team to a record breaking chase at Perth ? Sure, Duminy has had a rapid descent from those dizzying heights, but he might yet go on to become one of South Africa's best batsmen. Its premature to write off a batsmen after just one bad season. Lets wait to see how he responds to this crisis, time will tell.
Yes. It was all good until Ian opened his mouth. Much like Tendulkar started doing well after Ian's mirror comment :hysterical: . I really wish Ian saying more bad things about our team and our players. I am little worried about his praise on Veeru though :((

I was recently seeing the re-run of the ODI series b/w Australia and South Africa that happened immediately after the 2008 test match series b/w the same two teams. In that Duminy scored a lot of runs towards the latter half of the series. In the last ODI, almost every commentator was heaping mountains of praise of JP. Even the normally reluctant Ian Healy, who is so loathe to praising opposition players, was bigging him up totally. It was the same, whether it was Mark Taylor, Michael Slater, Tony Greig, Mark Nicholas or even Richie Benaud. So, one can understand why Ian Chappell made the comments he did. Interestingly, almost every senior South African player (Smith, Kallis), when speaking publicly about JP, have given him their vote of confidence. So obviously, they still have a lot of faith. Lets see if he can turn his career around from this point.

Duminy cannot play quality spin. Swann exposed him big time
LOL.. even ponting can't play quality spin bowling, but he's still considered as one of the greats! :--D As long duminy keeps on scoring at home like ponting he'll also join the list of greats

Ian Chappal is just like our Gabaskar, he said something like Ponting should worry about scoring a century in India as he never has scored, and he scored in the next match, Duimny will be a big time flop in the upcoming years.

Duminy isn't a bad player but no where near getting hyped. As i said to all mumbai fans when he got picked for mumbai IPl team. But surely the way he is playing rite now, he is better than that. Very short of confidence this guy rite now. Thats what an India tour for a test match or two can do to you.
