Who said they do not read ICF :secret: BTW it is the right decision. They were good players but the team has not improved since they started coaching. Bowling has been quite dismal after the coaching stint of Prasad. Hope we hire an excellent fast bowling coach as we need to increase the speed of fast bowlers immediately. If the speed of bowlers like Irfan Pathan, RP, Ishant, Zak, Nehra etc. can be again increased to their previous paces then we could have a deadly pace attack
If the pae is increased, the accuracy will also be like before i.e. wildly inaccurate n there will be lot more injuries

I don't know if he was .. Haven't seen him .. but it seems he just got one super talented student whom he guided the right way .. was he able to do tht again? problem here is not if crappy players can be coach or not .. ofcourse they can be .. but they should have right credentials .. They should have past record showing how many kids have gone through him and r doing good .. and for prasad it was nil .. If they don't have right credentials than their track record as a player is seen .. and for prasad he was the biggest dabba bowler ever in indian history .. and prasad flops in both of those criterias .. So his sacking was right .. he shouldn't be a coach in first place ..
Errr.....Prasad has a level 3 coaching certificate.:nervous:

It is a known fact that IKP use to depend heavily on Akram's coaching/feedback over his bowling' date=' so would it be true if I say that [b']IKP was "ruined" by Akram's advices ? Would it be correct if I say, Akram asked him to drop his pace to regain his swing back ? Bowling is all about confidence and rhythm. Coaches are always there to advice you and nitpick your flaws but that is only when you are bowling in the nets. Once the bowler steps on the field he is on his own and it is entirely up to him on how he uses the advices given him by his coaches. Obviously there is no match situation in nets so the bowler would feel all good but once the things start going haywire in the match, bowler needs to be confident enough to handle the situation. I don't know if Prasad was a good coach or no, but BCCI handled this case very stupidly (not surprising so from a board whose staff have no ***iing cricketing background). You cannot blame the coach for the bowlers' downfall. And I have said it earlier, if fixing technical flaws were this easy, then we'd have a game where none of the bowlers would leak runs. How many here can confidently say that hiring Donald/or the best bowler in the world as a coach would almost guarantee that India would not run into similar trouble say about 2-3 years later on ?
IKP entered Indian team as a swing bowler. I dont understand how dropping pace had helped him get swing. When he came to the Indian team he had a good pace as well as a very good swing. Why can both pace and swing not be retained. :hmmm: As a coach, I would prefer somebody who can increase the pace significantly. Our bowlers are hit for runs only because of their low speeds. All of them have good swing and I do not think we need to improve on their swing. Just increase their pace at least back to the 140+ mark they were a few years ago

If the pae is increased' date='the accuracy will also be like before i.e. wildly inaccurate n there will be lot more injuries[/quote'] I dont agree.. there are tons of fast bowlers around the world who are very accurate... the Aussie bowlers are accurate yet they have a very good pace.. the SA bowlers are not very slow either and they are also accurate.. I dont agree to the theory that if you are fast you cannot be accurate.. there are tons of examples to show that bowlers can both be fast and accurate

praise the lord... prasad is out robin was ok cant blame him for our poor fielders like munaf , nehra , ishant and the ageing brigade in sachin , dravid (stiil areasonable decision) prasad should have been kicked out long back .. all i saw after a year with him most bowlers lost speed and started bowling poorly. Time to get someone good

Well, then you not only have seen him, you have not heard much about him.

Prasad was the biggest dabba bowler in Indian history? What are you smoking? He was not that great but definitely far from the biggest dabba bowler ever. He had one of the best slow deliveries of his time and he bagged numerous wickets with that. I can't remember anyone else bowling a better slower one- perfectly disguised, perfect line and length. You know yourself that what you are saying is pure BS.

how many kids have Gary coached successfully?so he should also get the boot right? n about player capabilities,Greg Chappell was a great player,we all know how good a coach he turned out to be n about VP as coach, hes got level 3 grade certificate of coaching if u dont know
Don't put the words in my mouth .. Read the full comment first and than only reply .. Here is wht I said problem here is not if crappy players can be coach or not .. ofcourse they can be .. but they should have right credentials .. If they don't have right credentials than their track record as a player is seen .. and for prasad he was the biggest dabba bowler ever in indian history .. and prasad flops in both of those criterias .. Gary too don't have any international coaching credentials so his record as player is seen .. which were great .. Tht is good for getting him the job... but how he performs in the job will decide if he will continue or not .. But for prasad it was zero in both areas .. even in coaching and even as a player .. So he shouldn't be selected in the first place .. he just came through approach .. and I am sure sachin has a big role to play in tht .. May be gary too turn out to be useless but he should be given some time like prasad was given so much of time ... Prasad was a useless player and even a useless coach .. he did india more harm than good ...

FYI to people increased pace at times helps to cover flaws in bowling.. it is more difficult to hit a short ball of 140+ then it is of 130
Right. So a bowler who is having a problem to keep up a good line and length with a military pace should be asked to bowl more faster to cover up his problems ? Not a sane advice, I'd say.

that is why I am saying we need a pace specialist this time who can increase their pace without affecting their accuracy.. that is why I would be interested in a foreign coach rather than an Indian bowling coach

comeon.... only the pakis gave away wkts to him and we all know how p.iss poor r they in batting.. pls dont hype him.. hes the dabba-est bowler... itsa mystery how he played so many games for INdia.. shows a lot about our bowling strength....

for everyone thinking dropping these 2 and bringing someone else to coach will help .. u r wrong mate ... i say the attitude of our players towards these skills of game are lacking and is the bigger problem .. bowlers are lazy to bowl yorkers just trying to drop the balls on the pitch and dont even bend the back .. fielders dont commit to a catch or put the body behind the ball and dont dive .. probably to avoid injuries and miss matches and in turn big money .. our players suck .. not the coaches :finger:

so?? certificate means zilch and u know that....
I was responding to the poster who was questioning his formal coaching credentials since he was a "dabba" bowler. Prasad was the bowling coach when India won the series in England, ripped through Australia at Perth, Indian bowlers out swung (reverse and conventional) the Aussies under no lesser than Troy Cooley a year back, and did the same against England, and outbowled NZ in their own conditions.

Ah sh*t. You should have told me this earlier. I would not have bothered in getting my Engineering degree and just shown up at the company quoting you :giggle: So how should a coach be elected ? We all know be a great player means jack when it comes to coaching. Trial and error ?

Oh god. Care to tell me what exactly is pace specialist ? Pace is a natural thing that comes to the bowler and it is very hard to add a pace to bowler's natural run up and action. If you try to tweak his run-up and action to get that extra pace, you might actually make him even more worse. And what is the hype about bowling at pace ? Don't the bowlers with pace get smacked around the park ?
