How good was Ajay Jadeja acc. you in his playing days?

Recommended Posts

Azharuddin is the best "2" specialist i have ever seen. His flicks towards leg umpire would invariably get him 2 runs. Difficult to set field for him. Before you know he would be 50 in 50 balls.
No matter how much I hate Azhar, but he is one of the most wristy player I have seen. One shot I remember him playing was against Australia (I believe in 1998, one of the test matches). Warne was bowling around the stumps and Azhar "tucked" the ball between the keeper and backward short-leg, which fetched him 4 runs. Mind you this was not a paddle sweep or any sort of sweep. It was him turning his wrist at the very f4g moment of ball reaching him. Very eye-soothing to watch that.

What good is an innings/partnership that could not see through India after coming this close ? Shot selection has definitely to be question of both the Azhar and Jadeja' date= I say
Azhar was not out.. So you can't fault his shot selection. But yes there was panic set in. They were with in an inch of finishing the match and collapsed. Poor effort on that aspect. Only Dhoni and Yuvraj are consistent in getting close and finishing. Yuvraj probably has one exception where he was foxed by Bravo.

The last over was very disappointing. I think we needed 8 from it' date=' but they were just not able to get the ball off the square.[/quote'] Wasn't the last over bowled by the misery Surya uncle? I might be wrong but we needed run a ball or even less than that. I couldn't ****ing watch the game because there was a cable black out in my area after India were 4-64 and I read the headlines next morning with my jaws dropped seeing India actually getting this close to victory. India were pants when it came to chasing in the 90s and this was one of the efforts that was very rare from our team considering Tendulkar did not contribute much to it.

Yeah' date=' taklu was firing them in and the ball was crawling off the pitch [/quote'] This guy was a specialist when it came to bowling a negative line in LOI. Haramkhor would throw darts right at your feet, making it hard for the batsman to score runs if they hesitated in using their feet :giggle:

Another incident involving surya uncle was when SL were playing in India during one of their tour to India (don't remember exact details). Mongia was at the non-strikers end and the striker drove the ball towards long on (surya bulb was bowling around the stumps to the right hander). Surya tried to stop the ball but Mongia (accidentally) came in the way and ball was past surya bulb, he came down to mongia with THE SCARIEST look on his face which prompted mongia to get back to the crease rather than completing the single... he was literally scared of Surya chacha.. LULZ moment :giggle:

Taklu used to kill our bowlers in the 90s - there was an ODI where we scored 210 or something and taklu made 150 of them on his own. :eyedance:

Jadeja was similiar to kaif' date=' good runner, excellent fielder, played few handy innings, could bowl a bit if required. The only reason he stuck around for so long was because kanitkars, kurasias made him look good.[/quote'] Exactly. I actually dont like rubbish players like Jadeja. He is so over hyped. Never did jack for India and was one of those indians at the time who as soon as they stepped on a plane were like rabbits in the headlights. He was also a cheat and let his country down in match fixing. Rubbbish like him as why often brilliant knocks by Sachin went to waste due to lack of support by retards.

Strictly Average batsman and a handy bowler. Better than most Indian fielders but still no where close to OZ standards. I have this foggy memory of one of the games when He was the only one to play in the whole squad. He made a 100 out of 200 odd runs by the whole team on a slow wicket against OZ. Similar to many of the GOD's situations. I was probably like 8-9 years old back then. I had been fond of him since then. His match fixing proceedings were very hard to digest. He seemed to be a player who would do any thing for the nation but obviously he proved that wrong. I remember him as slow(SR wise) UV. He averaged similar to UV and also had similar attitude on the field.

Jadeja was a very good player, if I am correct was the vice captain for some time. It was a joy to see Jadeja and Robin Singh get sneaky singles in the end overs, along with the blows to the boundary. One particular innings he stood tall when others failed, against Australia and scored a fighting hundred, which even Warne(:giggle:) applauded.

If India still brags about India holding advantage over Pakistan in world cup he was one of the reason. What an onslaught that was against Waqar Younis.

We would not have lost yesterday's game if Jadeja had come in at No.6 or 7.
He sucked under pressure most of the times. He wasn't as great as some of you all are making him to be. The new jadeja made 23 but this one may have made single digits. He wasn't a big match winner like dhoni and UV. He wasn't very reliable player hence he never really succeeded in tests.
