BCCI constantly gets knocked for turning a blind-eye to the interest of test matches and constantly promoting ODIs (before) and T20s. But have a look at these numbers; Between Jan 1 2000 and present, we have played 102 test matches. (That number swells up to 104), if you're to take into account the forthcoming 2nd and 3rd against Lanka. But, in the previous decade (Jan 1 1990 and Dec 31 1999), we played just 67 test matches. Thats a decade-on-decade increase of more than 50%. If you think the number of test matches have gone up simply because we're playing more cricket than ever, that trend should continue for ODIs too right? But look at this In the last decade, we played a sum total of 257 ODIs, while in this decade, the number is 302. Thats just an increase of just 20%, Decade-on-Decade. However, it must be added that, right though to almost the end of the 90s, our sporting relations with Pakistan were quite chill. And, an extra full-fledged test member (B'desh) was added in 2000. On the flip-side, another test member, Zimbabwe, has almost been inactive right through the 2000s. But the question still remains, is the constant critcism of the BCCI promoting LOIs over test matches, justified?

Quite surprising indeed. We are not far behind Australia and SAF !! Tests.. Australia- 108 and 111 England- 107 and 127 South Africa- 66 (They were back only by 1992) and 106 Pakis since Jan 2000 - 79 :--D
So among the regular test playing nations, India has seen the single biggest rise in the percentage of test matches played, between the last decade and this decade. Very interesting indeed.
