The answer to both those questions are an obvious ‘Yes’. My opposition to this system is not because I think it does not reduce umpiring errors (or should I say, reduce the impact of umpiring errors), but because I think there are better ways to address the issue of umpiring errors. Anyways, all of us are too entrenched in our positions to debate this further. So, I’ll stop here.

There is merit in the Kiwi commentators' idea of reducing the number of unsuccessful challenges from 2 to 1 in each inning.

Your views on the umpire referral technology... so the referral system is back .. and with both the matches employing referral system finished .. i think its time to ask for your views .. surprisingly i thought poyzz used their referral better than WIndies .. ian chappel summed it up nicely saying "referral system seems to be reserved for gayle and chanderpaul from windies !! " .. its early days .. needs some tweaking but referral system does have a potential to stay i feel .. i also have a suggestion .. since there are only 2 referrals .. why the team needs to be docked a referral chance if they are successful at it .. let them have it ..wat u guys say ??

Leg before i am still not sure. They just look at whether the impact was inline. Don't give too much importance to where it could be heading. I am still of the opinion they should just use it to detect edges. Nothing more.

It needs lot of tweeking. Players are new to the system so it will take time to get used it. Why didn't Fulton use referral. He had inside edge. He should have used the refferal. Guess he was not sure what to do. Players are confused. I would like this to happen. For every test match, one home umpire and one neutral umpire. The third umpire should be neutral. Third umpire should have power to over turn any decision made by on field umpire. As soon as he sees replays and sees something wrong obviously like inside edges, pitching outside leg, hitting outside off he should let on field umpires know and call back the batsman. Third Umpire should be proactive. Only Fielding side should have challenges, and given maximum oftwo minute to decide if they want to take it or not. They should have one only one challenge. For LBWs, if on field umpire has given out. and third umpires checks this 1) Inside Edges, 2) Pitching outside leg stump or not 3) hitting outside the line of offstump 4) Height from square leg camera and 5) Obvious bowl going down the leg or missing off. Once he is satisfied with this, he should tell on field umpire, I am find, its your call now. So in short third umpire should be main umpire and be proactive.

there is a referral system in many other sports and in all of them the teams or the individual player has a right to challenge a call by the official which they deem wrong,they give teams some control which is the whole point of referrals.the only sticking point of the referrals is the lbw where each umpire seems to have his own idea of how it should work,we need some strict guidelines.

The review system allows each team a maximum of two unsuccessful challenges per innings against umpires' decisions but West Indies Cricket Board director Garner, known as "Big Bird" during his days as a fearsome fast bowler, believes the use of technology in the game has gone too far. "I can understand the use of TV technology in terms of run-outs, stumpings and that sort of thing, like whether the ball has pitched between wicket and wicket or outside leg-stump, if the umpire has doubts," he told the Trinidad & Tobago Express. "But not for every little thing you can think about to question the judgment of the umpire. "You still want the umpires to use their own judgment. If you're going to use it, it should only be used specifically for one or two things but not to question every little thing that happens with the umpires."
