vvvslaxman
You gotta understand when someone makes a case for Yuvi saying he is better than Lachu overall because he is better in T20 and ODI and Lachu is better in Tests. So Yuvi wins by 2-1 . Link to comment

Fontaine
ummm.pro bowl??? seriously?.the pre-season is just that.ITs there to get get the players into actual playing shape after a long layoff and for trying out rookies.T20 internationals is played between countries and believe me a lot of people in India watch it. Are you seriously this slow? Yes, preseason/pro-bowls games are meaningless but they're still watched and followed with huge audiences. But that alone doesn't make them significant. The players/coaches know what's meaningless and what's not, the same hold true in cricket. When you've got a T20 World Cup and the host country England is more focused on the upcoming ashes series, when individual greats don't take it seriously then yes, yes, yes, yes, for all those reasons and what's already been stated T20 matches simply DO NOT hold the same significance as ODI/Test matches. So complain and cry about it all you want. BTW, still waiting for your answer on how bowlers should be expected to take T20 matches seriously when they're by design relegated to just being net session pie chuckers. Link to comment

Anybody who doesnt believe that lives in his/her own delusional world. Q.E.D More popular with who? People like you? :haha: To people that matter, like the actual cricketers, tests are far more important and popular. Just go ask the many players from various countries that opt out of T20s, the IPL just so they can prepare and focus on tests or rest to be in top shape for tests. Not only that but they continiously reply that tests are far more important, prestigious etc etc. The only player to hint otherwise was Gayle and pretty much most of the current and former cricketers criticized him because they obviously don't share his opinions. Read "t20s and ODIs are more popular than tests in India. Anybody who doesnt believe that lives in his/her own delusional world." Dont assume. The discussion was about the popularity of the format in India. From my posts earlier, I am talking about the people... the audience of India and not about the players. Why do you have to jump the gun and start assuming it means anything else. If you are asking about the importance amongst the players, then it is obviously a no brainer that players regard Test Cricket to be most dear to them and want to really excel in Test Cricket as it is suppose to test the real character of a batsman. Why mix the two distinct points? Link to comment
Macj
However ugly the statement might be, its still true, the fact that IPL matches are always a full house and even had theater owners complaining proves the popularity of T20. Doesnt mean for a bit that its a quality format but that younger people who buy more advertised crap like it, the only way out of this is if the market gets saturated from a T20 overdose and nose dives. Thats the only way tried and tested formats like Tests and ODIs will come back to the fore. Link to comment

Why mix the two distinct points? Assume India has no T20s at all for the next 2 years. Do you think people will go mad about that like they do with Tests? They watch it because it is there. It reminds me of south indian film producer saying "We need to have couple of rain song sequence because that is what people want". The truth is nobody is going to cry because there is no rain songs. Australia, England, New zealand everywhere crowd will be more for T20. Because it is short. With dancing girls, music, razzmatazz it is like a picnic for lot of people. That's all it is. Not a serious form of cricket. It is closer to a reality show more than anything else. People do watch reality shows. Link to comment
