Dhoni's field placing Sometimes he reacts very late. He completely opened the extra cover area. Our bowlers keep pitching on a good length on the off stump. Mind you those were not bad balls. He kept hitting through the area. We blame the bowlers all the times. If you analyze further his field placing is also not really inspiring. Even some good balls were dispatched today. Both Dhoni and bowlers have to work together and come to a consensus on field placing and line and length.For Dilshan it is always a good idea to have a short cover. For Jaya keeping the third man little squarer is a good option. But he was finer. He still has to master the art of field placing.

Dhoni didnt place a fielder in extra cover in first 4-5 overs because he was tempting batsmen to open the face of the bat and drive it up which gives chance to slip fielders... its a very common technique used in test matches... but after 3 fours, he realized that pitch doesnt have any assistance and placed a extra fielder there..

Dont know about his field placings, but I'm not a great fan of his team selection and batting order.
