Guest Hiten. Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Canada barely has a population of around 30 million :giggle: Regarding the Ripple Effect of other regions asking for separate states, I think for this reason, Pakistan can forget about trying to get the Indian Kashmir. If India does ever part away with Kashmir, India will see the same ripple effect across the country. So, it is better to just make the LOC as an international border. Nothing is going to come out of it unless there's a full on war. I agree but even the "rural" areas are far more developed than India's metro cities. And those rural areas' population lie somewhere in low 1000s, which will put India's system to real shame.
jusarrived Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 the marathis in belgaum and hubli want to join maharastra .I dont think they really want a statehood. yeah , if you ask Bal Thakrey and his fan boys . Belgaum has about 40% marathi speaking population & theres never been a demand for separate state from localities . it was very peaceful untill these mofu's started meddling & Hubli ? there are marathis there ?
jusarrived Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I hear either Vizag or Vijaywada are going to be capital of AP ? my friend whos got investments in Vizag is happy with the split , infact most Andhrites I know , strange !!

kabira Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 how many princely states was indian divided before Vallabhbhai Patel made it United India??
ViruRulez Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 how many princely states was indian divided before Vallabhbhai Patel made it United India?? If I remember correctly from my school studies, India had 350+ princely states which were combined .. now dont tell me that we need 350+ states :cantstop:
ViruRulez Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Mayawati is right that UP is unmangeable. Needs to be divided into atleast two more states She is supporting the demand for two more states in Harit Pradesh and Bundelkhand I suppose. I also think Madhya Pradesh also needs to be divided to more states. Similarly, Maharastra, Andhra and maybe Karnataka also needs to be divided. All those states are just too big to be managed. Dividing small states like many are demanding right now does not make sense. If you really need to divide then divide the big states like UP, MP, AP, Maharastra and Karnataka. There's no point dividing West Bengal, Assam or other small states.
Macj Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 This is good news. Smaller states in the mass of India means more per capita development. Now that Hyderabad has been torn from Andhra , there will be moves to bring industry to Vizag and Nellore among other places. In the US you can have mega Billion $ corporations in remote Holland MI, in India this is never possible because invariably one city per state hogs the limelight. India should have at least 40-60 states to be properly represented and reduce bandhs and other nonsense that impede commerce.
gloryof83 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Guys you are missing the key point here... yes it may be beneficial to have many smaller states. BUT... there should be proper processes (people's mandate, some sort of planning commission, due diligence etc) to follow to achieve statehood. States should not be split on the whim of Sonia or some polly fasting for 10 days... this is the main issue here.
Rajiv Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I think this calls for a small part of Maharashtra split for "Bhai Log Ka" State
kabira Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 When India got independence, every region/language wanted the state, rightly so. Gujjus were only one I think which did not want seperate Gujarat. Again it was business reason LOL. They were fine as long as Mumbai was part of their state as most of the business was from Mumbai

They don't want to release the movie in Telengana region cause it is produced by a guy who stands for a unified Andhra Pradesh.
IKnowU Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Apparently some people started to remove their license plate and rename it to TLxxxxxxx. lol
