Honest question What do they do with these posters? Link at: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/international/day_in_photos_Jz0Ztp0G0dmjHIAu5JDKZP?photo_num=3 APTOPIX%20Pakistan%20Daily%20Life144707--500x380.jpg Mamta Kulkarni still has fans in Rawalpindi?
The same as what teenage guys do with cricket players posters, or teenage girls do with Male Rock star posters. The poster in questions are the ones that would typically be seen on the walls of a hotel, a barbershop, even inside a rickshaw. By the way Mamta Kulkarni seems to be pretty popular in Pakistan. Cant blame them really, she used to be kinda hot in a weird unexplainable way.

By the way Mamta Kulkarni seems to be pretty popular in Pakistan. Cant blame them really' date=' she used to be kinda hot in a weird unexplainable way.[/quote'] She gained fame after posing topless (but with her arms crossed over her breasts) for a photograph that appeared on the cover of Stardust, a popular Indian film magazine in September 1993. She was charged under India's obscenity laws, and found herself under attack from both conservative religious groups, and women's groups. The outspoken actress lashed out at protesters, calling them hypocrites. Kulkarni was finally convicted in July 2000, and fined Rs 15,000. However, this caused yet another controversy because she appeared in court in a burqa to evade photographers, which led to death threats and protests from the local Islamic community. mamta.jpg Source: Wiki :hysterical:

Funny. How can anyone be fined for posing topless in a country where soft core pornography is not illegal?

Mamta Kulkarni was quite popular as an eye candy in mid to late 90s. She almost had a non-Indian physique in the sense she had thin arms and legs but was filled perfectly every place else. Kind of like Thandie Newton. Both these women are not the best looking or hot by any remote chance but at certain angles they have a weird oomph factor that few women have. Incidentally Mamta Kulkarni made more news for all the wrong reasons than her acting. She was last heard making millions at private dances, including one at Laloo's.

Right. I think there was a temple built for her in AP/TN back in the 90s! RK Santoshi wanted to bone her badly, during the CHina gate days.

That was quite funny. Mamta Kulkarni also exposed at a time when main stream heroines did not expose much. She was an average actress and an average dancer. Coincidentally the film Baazi just started on MAX. Mamta Kulkarni. This is the movie where Aamir Khan tried his best to be an action hero. Turned out a crap movie, Aamir tried a few other times and failed badly.

I remember that magazine cover. It was in news everywhere and there was big controversy over Mamta's stardust cover. India was still in the 20th century and very conservative. There was quite an uproar. Mamta perhaps also said that the photo was taken without her knowledge after seeing the uproar. I was in school at that time. Thanks for bringing back old memories. :--D Waise Mamta I heard later on fled with an aide of Dawood Ibrahim :dontknow:
