You think the sub rule is a good thing ? I think of it otherwise. It would mean that the teams can pick *****y fielders in their XI who are either good bat or bowler and can have the luxury of replacing them with their best fielders on the bench. It can be only good that it'll help reduce the burn out for players.
I agree. There would be 4 specialist fielders in the 4 subs so that the fielding unit is better. And the batsman and bowlers who are bad at fielding would be replaced by the 4 subs during the match.

It may not be fair but I think it could help in two accounts : 1. The fast bowlers will get their deserved rest and may improve their longevity. It takes a lot to stand out there for 20 overs frequently. 2. Fielding is one are that is not too admired in cricket. Perhaps this move may start putting that emphasis on the fielding.

Daredevils may swap Tiwary with Moises NEW DELHI: Expect a fair bit of trading when the Indian Premier League (IPL) transfer window opens from Monday onwards (November 23 to January 22). First up, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Daredevils are in talks to exchange players and if negotiations come through, the Daredevils may swap Manoj Tiwary for KKR all-rounder Moises Henriques.Bengal player Tiwary missed the second season of the IPL in South Africa due to injury and didn't have a good outing during the inaugural Champions League (CL). He was initially not included in the Delhi squad for the CL, and only got a chance to play after AB De Villiers pulled out. KKR had been eyeing Tiwary even last year but were deterred by his fees ($675,000). For IPL 2, KKR paid around $300,000 for Henriques and if the swap happens, Daredevils will have to buy out the contract. There is every chance you could see Tiwary playing for KKR. Talks are already on. The swap should come through," a source told TOI on Saturday. KKR have also signed up Maharashtra Ranji skipper Hershad Khadiwale, who is an opening batsman. There is also talk that the Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals may put former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif Meanwhile, though Pakistani players are expected to figure in IPL 3, the tournament's organisers are yet to get clearance on the matter in writing from either the Indian or the Pakistan government. But with the home ministry having given a cursory nod, teams are already making plans: The Vijay Mallya owned RCB team has expressed its wish to trade Misbah-ul Haq. ========================================================== http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/ipl/top-stories/Daredevils-may-swap-Tiwary-with-Moises/articleshow/5256273.cms

Pak players' IPL participation still in doubt KARACHI: Pakistani players' participation in the next Indian Premier League remains doubtful as IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has told the PCB that the league cannot obtain Indian Foreign Office's NOC for them. According to the 'Dawn' newspaper, Modi has told PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt that it was the responsibility of the Pakistani Board to seek NOCs from the Indian Foreign Office for players to take part in the lucrative league next year in March-April. The report said Modi has told Butt that if Pakistani players wanted to take part in the IPL, their board would have to submit all the required NOCs including those from the PCB and the governments of India and Pakistan. "This is an unusually tough condition set by Modi and diminishes the chances of Pakistani players taking part in the IPL," the newspaper said. The report said Modi has sent an email to Butt outlining his condition. "...in view of Modi's condition Butt is now using all his influence to convince the Pakistan foreign ministry to talk to their Indian counterparts so that clearance can be sought from the Indian government for the IPL," one source said. The PCB has already issued an NOC to Abdul Razzaq as he has got a contract offer from Kolkata Knight Riders while Umar Gul is also next in line. :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: LINK

Broad sets sights on IPL contract Stuart Broad is among several England players considering playing in the third season of the IPL, the Daily Telegraph has reported. Broad turned down the chance to play in the 2009 season, choosing instead to focus on the Ashes, but his agent is reported to have been in touch with IPL commissioner Lalit Modi. "We have had contact from Craig [sackfield, Broad's agent] and all players now have to write to me directly and arrange NOCs from their boards by December 31," Modi said. "Then we will fix a minimum bid price and circulate their names to the franchises." Modi said a lot of the slots had been taken but teams would probably be able to hire one or two players and there was a good chance of a lot of England players being involved. "The England players in Bangladesh will miss the first 10 days but the Australians and New Zealanders are unavailable until much later so that's not a problem," he said. Sackfield, who also manages Luke Wright and James Anderson, confirmed he was looking to secure contracts for all of them. "I have made initial contact as regards to all of my players ... We just want to see what the situation is and what they have to do," he said. Broad, speaking in Cape Town on Wednesday, confirmed his interest in playing in the league. "The IPL is something I'd like to play in at some stage, " he said. "Whether I do it this year, I'm not sure. I've not given it too much thought." The IPL has capped bid prices at US $750,000 for 2010 contracts and Broad's price could be hiked by a bidding war depending on the number of franchises interested in his services.
