spectre Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 for this series vs the two minnows Raina can hit like crazy in the first 15 overs and also his short-ball play can be tested. Kohli can also play his natural game as well Crazy it may sound, but i would like to see these guys get a proper hit out in the middle Gambhir at 3 and Sehwag at 5 If things go awry at the top, we have a damn heavy middle order to take care of it If there is any series to experiment, this is it
S.Bond Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 sounds good but will not happen;.. raina for opening, at 3 but not open...

diegovegaz Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 they won't be opening for sure, but it would be interesting to see who gets to bat at 3
Sachinism Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Very unlikely they'll be sent to open, but you never know, Kohli has beeen used as an opener before. I agree though, its a good chance to experiment, try out a few things

I agree though, its a good chance to experiment, try out a few things Whats the point of experimenting when we have two openers who have performed well in that position. Of course Raina and Kohli can be sent at no 3 and 4 to give a better exposure. Too much of a change in the batting position wouldn't help.
Zap_Brannigan Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 We have 3 openers in the squad (if all are playing) that are in good touch. There is no need to experiment at that position.
achilles Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Raina can never be an Opener, just like he can never be a slogger. Virat can open. He has in the past and he can even now. Pair him up with Robin Uthappa, who comes in the team in place of Raina, I say :--D
Desi Cartman Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 viru wont allow that ... he wants to score 200 soon :yay:
PotterManiac Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Pretty interesting thoughts there I am pretty sure its not going to happen! ;)
vvvslaxman Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Habrhajan as a pinch hitter lol He can hit lot of imaginary sixes.
Dravid Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 bhajji at #3 guyzz i want to see him have a good long proper hit in the middle
Cricketics Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 This is an interesting idea spectre but then i think again and what comes into my mind is the sight of Sehwag hitting the bowlers all over the park. I mean seeing Sehwag bat again and again and again is what i would want to see even though if it's against a minow nation. May be Gambhir can rest, and Sehwag can open with Raina and Kohli coming 1st down or Kohli-Sehwag opening with Raina coming at 3
