Cops who 'danced to don's tunes' to be suspended? NDTV Correspondent, Saturday January 2, 2010, Mumbai copdancebig.jpg This is one encounter the Mumbai Police would rather not talk about. It has recommended the suspension of five of its policemen, after they attended a Christmas party hosted by underworld don Chota Rajan's aide Paulson Joseph. The senior most among the five is Deputy Commissioner of Police V N Salve, in-charge of intelligence gathering and providing security to VIPs. This is the first time ever that an IPS officer is facing suspension for his links to the underworld. The other senior officer is Assistant Commissioner of Police Prakash Vani, responsible for the Crime Branch's operations in Mumbai's Eastern suburbs. The Mumbai Police has been investigating the case since December 27. The action against the policemen follows a video circulated after the party, shot by a police informer. Though the video does not clearly show the officers, it has now been established that they did attend the party. In his report, the Commissioner of Police has stated that there is enough evidence - including testimonies of others who attended the party and photographs that show the officers interacting with gang members. While DCP Salve was unavailable for comment, ACP Vani told NDTV that: "The clip circulated in the media is an attempt to frame me. I did not meet D K Rao or any other members of the Chhota Rajan gang. I am not seen in the video. I attended a party at the Chembur Gymkhana as a member, with my family. I will answer my superiors, not the media." If the Home Ministry accepts the recommendations, all five policemen will be suspended till the enquiry against them is completed. If found guilty, they will be removed from service - a dishonourable exit for anyone in khaki, and a mark of shame for the Mumbai Police. http://www.ndtv.com/news/india/mumbai_police_to_act_against_cops_who_danced_to_dons_tunes.php ---------------------------- Excellent, the people who are actually charged with nabbing the criminals are found partying with them... Hail our poleeeeeeeees! :hail:

It's not a shocking news as time and again Mumbai police has been linked with the underworld dons .

I wouldnt have been terribly shocked to see low-rung police officers like Inspectors and sub-Inspectors indulge in this kind of behavior, but the Deputy Commissioner and an Assistant Commissioner....! If these are the kind of people who are charged with keeping the city safe, we now know why its so easy for terrorists from across the border to come here and attack us in their own time and comfort. Frankly, its a miracle we do not have a terrorist attack India every day. So, next time something terrible happens, lets look within, before jumping to blame external forces...

Sriram, You mean to say you havent watched the Tamil and Hindi movies? where Asst. Commissioner or Inspector General are corrupt? :winky: Truth is stranger than fiction. In fact, truth is where these guys get stories (and later embellish them) for movies.

Its amazing that some characters in the movies look so unreal until news like this one or Narayan Datt tiwari's sex scandal breaks,
