champ
the teams like SA and AUS fighting back from hopeless situations . these 2 teams will reclaim the top positions soon and add to that SL and teams like india , eng, nz , pak, WI will be just the competitiors to these teams in new decade .. reason i say is this .. they all got balance and an allround team .. and no wonder , they won matches to start off with in the new decade .. if we had a decent bowling lineup , then i would have put india also in the top tier .. but hey still we are #1 at the moment in tests and lets hold on to mace for a while :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment
Badrinath_fan
After the retirement of Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, i think our batting lineup won't be that threatining. We have a bunch of talented batsman, we just need to give them some chances. Link to comment

saneindian
Sehwag, Gambhir, Vijay, Yuvi, Dhoni and 2 out of Pujara, Badri, Rohit, Kohli, Karthik , Raina and Manoj Tiwary.. I wont be fretting too much about our batting. I am sure 2-3 out of the above list will step up and start getting counted when we need them in tests. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
typical Naa.. you misunderstood what i said. I said.. if someone like Zak leaves India won't feel it as much as when Tendulkar or Dravid leave. Sure we need great bowlers. We can hope for it. But they are smaller shoes to fill compared to batsmen. Link to comment

PotterManiac
i think India can stay at the top for quite a long time...(and much longer if they are able to get their bowling right( Link to comment

The Outsider
isn't aus still in a transition phase but still they have performed above their strengths How long is the transition phase supposed to last - it's been 3 years since Warne and McGrath retired, 2 since Gilchrist, and 1 since Hayden and they are losing to the stronger sides or struggling to beat the weaker ones consistently. Is it going to be Paki style transition which has been going on since '03? They rival only Pakistan as far as batting collapses are concerned right from Perth '06 to Sydney '08. India also lost Ganguly and Kumble - that's not a transition? We haven't lost a test since then, forget about a series. Link to comment
putrevus
We don't really have to worry about our bowling future. It is not like We have Ambrose' date=' Donald to replace.[/quote'] Our bowling attack is fine nothing wrong with it, we have won everywhere in the world, if our batting matched so called weakness bowling we would have won in SA and Australia too. Look at our losses in last three years almost every loss can be attributed to batting failures starting from Karachi 2006, melbourne 2007, SA series where bowlers did great but batting failed to live up to expectation. Even recent SL series not many teams would have taken 20 wickets on those flat pitches, it is not 1990s where we could only win at home depending on kumble running thru sides on under prepared pitches. it is the odi/20-20s we are struggling , we need to look for bowlers who can be like bracken/james hopes.Make Zaheer Khan/Ishant sharma test specialists and get bowlers who can be economical in odis. The Outsider
Kyon, champ? Did you witness the magnificent South African "fightback" today? Failing to bowl out England in 145 overs. Their magnificent and fit attack has managed to take 33 English wickets in 3 home tests on supposedly sporting wickets, while India's trundlers were demolishing Sri Lanka on supposedly flat pancakes. :giggle: Link to comment
