Have you guys played with Pakistani guys. I have done my share when i was in Texas. There was this guy who looked like ahmednijad who used to work with me. Very nice guy. As i described he was pretty thin and somewhat short and slight. When i batted i thought he would bowl spin or something. He started running from boundary line. I was like WTH. He was pretty quick for his body. But he bowled rubbish lengths though. Fact is they don't care. Their goal was just to bowl fast. That culture is inherent for them .

I did not mean to imply that all Indians are weakly built or to bowl fast' date=' [b']you MUST be powerfully built. But the reality is there for everyone to see. Of course, someone like Aamer or even a Agarkar are of slight built, but have generated decent pace.
FWIW, as someone who has spent more than half of his adult life going to gym, I can assure you that Indian men are no different than Pakistani men, in terms of strength and power. If anything Indian men are stronger..in my experience of course. It is okay to be wrong once in a while Sriram, which you know you are. If you dont admit it you would have jackasses throwing out Punjab as an example as if Punjab is the only strong state in India :hysterical: No difference in geneology in South Asia if you ask me. xxx

No. Fact is there is a chance he played tape ball cricket which makes bowlers release ball at extreme speed since there is pretty much else he can do with the ball. I have also seen average Pakistani generate good speed. Nothing to do with gene, or food, more to do with tape ball culture and the inherent strength it builds in shoulders.

i think so' date=' but we still have to look for Umesh Yadav in this IPL[/quote'] What happened to him? Is he still injured? he did not jack in the Ranjis - not sure if he even played.

Don't say it is gene. The right muscles get stronger and stronger over a period with their tape ball cricket. We don't need to be body builders to bowl quick.
You dont need body builders for bowling fast, thats exactly right. You need bowlers with good shoulders and back, someone who has a lot of flexibility and has stamina in tons. One muscle group that I would say needs a lot of work however is legs and butt. In my experience this is one area average Indian male lacks in. We concentrate too much on shoulders, chest and arm and less on running, jumping and lifting heavy with legs. You find me a quality fast bowler(or a football player) and you can see for yourself his strong glutes and hams. Of course exceptions abound - Roger Binny with the biggest bums could never bowl upwards of 130.:hysterical:

Talking of genes and strong bodies, travel to the interiors of Haryana,Punjab or Himachal, find some decently built 14-15 yr old lads(Nearly 60-70% young population there will have a good physique) and provide them regular training and proper guidance. I am sure in some years time, we can have a decent pace bowler.

Dunno if you have ever noticed Waqar saying this while commentating but he said that in Pakistan with an upcoming teenage fast bowler, they always encourage him to bowl the fastest he can and forget about the line and length. Once he gets the pace and develops the right muscles then he is taught to control the pace On the other hand the Indian coaches (and i have been first hand witness to this) start with teaching the bowlers line and length and ask them to sacrifice pace to attain this. They are never able to achieve much pace there after

That explains why all their batsmen are effing poor..they never learnt anything apart from leaving the ball to the keeper as youngsters.

What was most shocking for me was to hear Sunny Gavaskar in commentary box appreciating how Sreesanth was bowling within himself, cutting down the pace so that he can bowl line and length. I was like Holy Crap

Doubters should look at the punjab kabbadi team as an example of power strength! When they play team from other regions its literally like watching men play against boys:haha: Its a shame punjabis are more intrested in drinking, chasing women, fighting and hockey or we would have a conveyor belt of pacers:haha:

Of course, someone like Aamer or even a Agarkar are of slight built, but have generated decent pace. [/quote'] there is no factual basis for your comment. where is the evidence you have to be strongly built to be fast bowler? all the genuine pace bowlers i have seen over the year are at best of reasonable to light build. a few like donald, akthar, ambrose became strong later but not in their early 20's when they were slim. even as a slim guy, they egernated furious pace strong guys like mcmillan and lance cairns had only reasonable pace. think about bio mechanics...biomechanics...sports is mostly biomechanics to think that brute strengrth is the way is shallowminded thinkigng.not an educated opinion. read some sports related research papers and it will open your eyes. as for genes it is a different topic.all i can say is thinking that brute strength will win you champions is wrong. if that was the case roddick shud be beating federer many times over. you have to look at factors strategic to a game or skill.
