I don't like mixing politics with cricket but the fact is the precedent was set by the ICC a year ago when the Sri Lankan team was attacked. After that, Australia, New Zealand and other countries refused to tour to Pakistan so the precedent was already set. Politics does, unfortunately does affect cricket and in this case (just like Pakistan weren't allowed to host the WC, tours from other countries) politics has won out. It's a difficult and unfortunate situation but it's also a difficult and unfortunate time in Pakistan. What I don't agree with though is Pakistani current and ex players coming out in unison and taking it as some sort of personal insult. It just makes them seem like a bunch of crybabies.

This is truly a horrible mess, at least last year the Indians were fair and had some honour in the way they refused to allow Pakistani players to play. This time around it's been a well planned sorry mess. If the Indian board and the franchises knew they weren't going to bid for and play Pakistani players, then they shouldn't have put them in the bidding pool. Gul, Razzaq and co are no different to the Morkel's and Pietersens and Bond's in that they want to earn a lot of money for doing what they enjoy. Razzaq is very right in his statement, you shouldn't mix politics with sport, if it does get mixed up at least show respect for the sportsmen, they haven't done anything to wrong.

so now I should expect that all the 50 other unsold players should go and sue IPL for not selecting them. So I expect Canada, Netherlands,Bandadesh etc all to do same. Yet all I hear is these pakistani players Even they are champions of last year cup, that does not mean they should be the 'stars' of every tournament.

But Pietersen is more handsome than Razzaq

They aren't just stars of one tournament, they are guys playing for Pakistan who've set the standards for this version of the game. Umar Gul is unparallelled in his ability to bowl yorkers at the death, only Parnell during 3/4 matches in the last tournament came close. Afridi is one of the leading wicket takers and is very very stingy with the ball and can every now and then chip in with the bat. Razzaq is a very good T20 player, he just hasn't been required with the bat much. Maybe they wouldn't have been the best players in the IPL, but they would have added something to the tournament, they are after all top quality in this format.

I know its not fault of Gul or ameer but from Indians' point of view they are pakistanis and Indian league/franchises dont want to upset people

The Pakistanis got what they deserved!!! Why was Afridi hell bent on playing in IPL when he is making decent money by playing in all the other T20 leagues PLUS he is the captain of frickin national team? I have said this before and will say it again that from the very beginning the Indian govt and the idiot Modi did not want them to be part of IPL in anyway, which is fair enough. It’s their tournament and they should have the right to the admission. It’s the fault of PCB and the players who could not see the writing on the wall. From my perspective, ignoring the snub and all the humiliation that our players have suffered, I am happy that likes of Aamir and U. Akmal are not playing in IPL. These guys are too young to be shown the kind of money that IPL can throw at you.
