falcons360 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Guys look out for Jaydev Unadkat the kid touched 139 Km/hr and is a very fast lad. Man he raddled the Pakistanis in the U19 World Cup. This time i can say that i am excited after watching this kid. Several things stand out about Jaydev Unadkat. The tall, wiry fast bowler puts in so much into each delivery that every now and then a loud grunt accompanies the release of the ball. He's a pure vegetarian, doesn't even eat eggs, but is open to changing this so that his career doesn't suffer. Most heartwarmingly, pace is No. 1 for him. “The reason I started playing cricket was because I wanted to bowl fast. Things like swing come much later,†said Unadkat, who shone even as India went down to Pakistan. “When you're young you just want to run in as quick as you can and bowl fast. I still think like that, in that I want to build my body up and bowl as fast as possible.†For the emotional Porbandar boy from the Duleepsinh College, the loss to Pakistan took some getting over. He was in tears soon after the game, and had to be persuaded to even eat dinner that evening. “It’s ok, it’s over now. Today’s a new day,†he said, with a shy smile. Unadkat’s spell, which began with a first-ball wicket that set the tone for a fiery over, rattled Pakistan’s batsmen. “One small goal I had set for myself was that I should touch 140 kmh on these helpful pitches,†said Unadkat, who almost got there, racking up 139kmh. “This was in my mind. We were playing a shortened game. That means you have to bowl full tilt from the first over itself.†The lanky fast bowler has got this far on the back of his natural talent. He has spent a few days at the National Cricket Academy, but so far no coach has had to make major changes to his bowling action. Coach Ram Odedra in Porbandar and Rajesh Jadeja, the former Saurashtra left-armer who coaches in Rajkot, have told Unadkat in no uncertain terms that he is a fast bowler, and should not slip into becoming fast-medium. “No coach has told me to cut down on my pace and concentrate on swing,†said Unadkat. “But they have explained to me that if I try and bowl faster than what is in me, then I’ll lose out on swing, on control.†The youngster has had to be careful about gym work, for he’s still growing. Often an incorrect regime involving heavy weights can hold back a growing teenager. With Unadkat still getting taller, the time for serious muscle building may come later. Like any left-armer, Unadkat looks up to Wasim Akram, and even had the chance to exchange a few words with his hero. Ask him what format of cricket he prefers, and the answer comes effortlessly. “I love ODIs and T20s. I have played a lot of four-day cricket, but I really like playing in ODIs and T20s because bowlers are under pressure there,†he said. “I like situations like the Pakistan match where you have a chance to come into the attack in the end and do something for the team. I wait for games like that.†http://www.hindustantimes.com/News-Feed/cricketnews/Jaydev-loves-life-in-the-fast-lane/Article1-501407.aspx
dr_tooley Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 He's got something about him this guy. Saw him in the U19 game against Pakistan. Has pace but more importantly aggression. Hope his pace improves rather than tails off like so many other Indian Pacers.
kabira Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 yeah he was the only guy that impressed me. Got bounce too. Had aggression. What state he is from?? Seems like Guju from the last name?
rahulrulezz Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Finallllllyyyyy.. I thought I was the only one who was impressed by him..... I could clearly seee that the guy was looking to bowl pure pace in that match.. He beated most of the batsmen by pure pace...That is one attitude which is missing in our current crop of bowler.. too much focus on line and length has made India a 'Factory Of Trundlers'....

Guest Hiten. Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Any videos of his bowling? maggot_brain Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Erm, didn't VRV Singh say he wanted to focus on pure pace? Where is he now? If Unakdat ever gets near the national team expect a 125-130 kph trundler. Nothing will change unless we start getting sporting pitches like the one used for the recent Ranji Trophy final. Less of those pitches liked the Ahmedabad test vs SL.
achilles Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 :two_thumbs_up: Maybe India will finally have a LEFT ARM FAST bowler :two_thumbs_up:
retterimp Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Pak U19 - India U19 HLs 1- http://www.megafilelinks.com/view.php?id=xbyoah 2- http://www.megafilelinks.com/view.php?id=xbyp7f 3- http://www.megafilelinks.com/view.php?id=xbyqa2 4- http://www.megafilelinks.com/view.php?id=xbyqxk thanks a lot for this. it was a pretty comical game lol, with both the teams' batsmen having no clue. but some good bowling from our seamers got us really close. this sandeep sharma guy kinda reminds me of praveen kumar, so might be good for odis, doesnt look like test material though. unadkat was ok, didnt really see any quick deliveries in terms of speed in the highlights but cud have bowled some quick ones somewhere in the innings. he got very good bounce so that was a little heartening. aamer from pak can regularly hit 140 for being about 18/19 or wutever his real age is, so unadkat wasnt that fast compared to fast bowlers of a similar age. but we'll have to see whether he can improve from here, dont want to jump the gun...
Cricketics Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 The guy used to ball one good over, then just put too much effort in his bowl that he used to mess up his next over. Atleast the guy is bowling fast.. Just need to fix up his line and bring maturity.. Speed+good line can be a deadily combo. Good thing is that he is under 19

Good thing is that he is under 19[/quote'] remember yomesh the guy clocked 144 at under 19 level but fewyears after he was at1 25-130 at domestic level.its better we see him when he plays ranji trophy as on flat decks if bowls quick he has the heart for being a fast bowler.
saneindian Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I hope no coach in India ever asks him to cut down on pace . Ask him to go flat out in every match he plays, even if that means he sprays it a little, shouldn't bother us. Let him bowl as fast as he can. IIRC Mohd Aamer during his u-19 days used to be at the same speed 84-85 mph and see within an year he has started touching 90 regularly with an occasional delivery going over 92-93 mph. Wish you all the best Jaydev.
rkt.india Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 He needs to work on his fitness to maintain and gain pace, this is the main thing Indian pacers lack usually
kabira Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Just checked out. He is from Porbander and will play for Saurashtra. Bowling on Rajkot wicket will surely take the toll and soon he will become trundler.

Malcolm Merlyn Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 he has a whippy action and gets some bounce......
rkt.india Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 he has a whippy action and gets some bounce...... was getting good bounce and is tall, the main thing is he has quick arm action which mostly gives rip to the deliveries EDIT: I was thinking i have seen this kind of action before but was not able to remember that I leave it u guys if u can find some similarities in these 2 guys, both are wiry and tall but one is left hander other is right hander. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBXhnZvGvbY]YouTube- Muhammad Zahid 2 53 v Australia Match 8 C & U Series 96 97[/ame]
rkt.india Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Look at some of his stuff: [ame= Zahid 13[/ame] [ame= Zahid 3[/ame] [ame= Zahid 6[/ame]
Ram Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 He is tall and has a very whippy, quick, arm action, which explains the pace and bounce he gets. A left-armer who can bowl at pace and get good bounce is always an extremely potent weapon. Of course, its easy to terrorize batsmen at the U-19 level with some brisk bowling, but the same trick wont work at the international level. More than the pace, it was the bounce he got that was more heartening.
