Feed
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's reign at the top of ICC ODI batsmen chart for more than a year ended with Australian Michael Hussey toppling him in the rankings issued today. Dhoni, who held the top spot since Jan 2009, however, will have an opportunity to regain the coveted number-one position when he leads India in the three-match ODI series against S Africa later this month. Fontaine
Well done Hussey. He's been a very underrated player and has routinely come in pressure situations against Pakistan this series. Link to comment
bharat297
He performed well in India too in pressure situations. Link to comment

saneindian
Last 12 months, the stats for these two are quite similar with MSD slightly ahead of Hussey. MSD 26 innings, 1298 runs@68 with a SR of 85 , 3 100s and 8 50s Hussey 31 innings, 1234 runs@56 with a SR of 94 , 11 50s. In matches won, Dhoni 13 innings, 859 runs@122 with a SR of 96, 2 100s and 6 50s Hussey 21 innings, 845 runs@65 with a SR of 98, 7 50s Amazingly consistent figures these for the two of them. Truly the two best ODI batsmen of the last few years. Link to comment
Fontaine
Except Dhoni has done it with the burden of captaincy and being a full time wicket keeper! Link to comment
TumTum
Although the batting positions for both are similar, MSD has batted more earlier than Hussey in recent times. Hence Dhoni had the chanse to make more big scores, however Hussey had more of an advantage to get not-outs. Link to comment

TumTum
Except while batting you dont think about wicket keeping or captaincy... Exactly. Those factors come in affect when they consider your overall achievements. Link to comment
Zelig
When you consider the fact that both of them bat in the middle order, well, most of the time, that's truly remarkable. The batting PP does play its role in their numbers but that shouldn't take away any credit that they rightly deserve. Link to comment

Out of his 26 innings, Dhoni has come at no 3 - 5 times, no 5 - 18 times and no 6 - 3 times. Out of his 31 innings, Husey has come at no 3 once, no 4 - 4 times, No 5 - 16 times, and no 6 10 times. Not much to chose their either. They both have been the two best finishers in the modern game after Bevan. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Congrats Hussey. I am still thankful for your century at Sydney for putting Poyzz away :hysterical:. Anywayz he has been having a great run much like Dhoni. This is a result of not Dhoni's dip it is a result of Hussey's growth. So Respect. Link to comment
flamy
Like I said, Hussey is Aussie's best batman. Somebody was laughing at me for saying that, I dont remember who :hitler: Link to comment
OriginalCopy
Except while batting you dont think about wicket keeping or captaincy... Except if you have been wicket keeping for 50 overs, your back is quite screwed up, so yeah you do not think about wicket keeping, but keep thinking about your hurting back. Except that when you are the captain and batting at the time, the onus is on you to play a responsible innings, still keep thinking about strategies, and still battle with the pressure of captaincy all the time. The pressures don't just vanish when you are batting. Link to comment
