McCain was portrayed by the Bush supporters as anti breast cancer programs, the fact being he opposed big spending bills that had the sensitive issue added to get passed. The Clinton impeachment proceedings were a farce .. he was impeached by the house on BS charges, while Bushie gets to drag the country into a useless war for no reason. Obama was portrayed as pro-Islamic as well to scare off people; the birthers created the citizenship controversy out of nothing. Truth is, these crazies and their lies have to be ridiculed and crushed, or else they will make stories out of thin air seem truthful. Thats hardly the point. If you see Obama's town halls in entirety , he's been pretty good. Even otherwise, speeches are not the deciding factor for political leadership.

You are turning around the argument. She made fun of Obama for reading through the teleprompter, and thats when she got riled for having stuff written on her hand. I know your love for conservatives dude, but you don't have to defend the indefensible. :eyedance:

The big difference, to me and dare I say most people, is that while one can accuse Obama of reading from a teleprompter there would be very few who would actually accuse him of being stupid. Even his strongest critics call him as smart intellactual, and then qualify it with a "misled and misinformed". On the other hand even Palin's biggest supporter dont think of her as smart and intellactual. Her whole USP is being dumb and a person of the masses. Her knowledge, or lack thereof, is fairly evident every time she steps up to podium and hence the whole "Soccer Mom" persona. When Obama reads from a teleprompter it is a means to deliver a good speech. When Palin does she is basically covering her idiocy, as far as I am concerned anyway. xxx

Response to p_k and Lurker: Did you all see my disclaimer - "Taken in isolation"? Let me explain: In and of itself, writing notes on one's palm is not a sign of stupidity. There is enough evidence otherwise to show Palin's lack of preparedness. It irritates me when people criticize others for non-substantive issues (I have stood up for Obama on this board when he was criticized for some irrelevant thing) I don't know about you all, but I find it funny that a man who has the reputation for being a great orator essentially depends a crutch, and stumbles badly when the crutch malfunctions. It was funny to see him squirm and be laughed at. Does that mean he's a bad President? Certainly not. Bottom line: What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Does Colbert know that?
