thevortex
Mishra was bloody brilliant and unlucky to not get a wicket of kallis (the over before Bhajji picked him). He consistently asked questions and beat the outside edge numerous amount of times. His guile is flighting the ball and letting zip a big leg turner out' date=' which will keep the keeper and first slip interested at all the times. Moreover, he uses his googly to good use and very wittingly slips in very rarely. Kallis did not look comfortable against AM and he was the reason why both the well settled pair could not manage to sneak in easy runs in what was a bloody pathetic strategy of field placing.[/quote'] I am sorry but we will have to disagree on this. Mishra bowled a ODI line. That is not the way to bowl in Test matches. At least not if the objective is to pick wickets. Link to comment
patriot
I hope I am proved totally wrong. But I have reasons for my skepticism and pessimism. 1) 2 test debutants bats , one of whom ( Badri ) , in spite of a great domestic record is not really known for scoring in crunch matches. The other is a specialist WK. They are reaplacing names like Dravid and VVS. 2) Gambhir has had such an unbelievable dream run that odds of him doing his magic again are higher each time he steps on the field with the bat. He is human. Law of averages means he is due a failure in a match. 3) Sehwag ,our best match winner by far ,but a bit of a lottery. Lag gaya toh SA bowlers pe tarse ga, out hua jaldi toh apni vaat hai. Bhajji and Zakky will need to be at their best with the bat, especially the former who continues to bowl darts on leg stump. I hope I am proved wrong. ^BUMP. :shout: Link to comment
punjabi_khota
^LOL....out of the 3 players you mentioned, 1 scored a century and another scored a 50. Link to comment
Karan114
Man, even if they bat two sessions and score 150 runs or so at the very most (they are not going to be scoring quickly), it will still leave us 100 behind, with just Badri and Dhoni to follow. At best we might avoid an innings defeat. I personally think SA will rip through us in the first session itself. Apart from Veeru-Badri partnership we have shown zero fight. Link to comment
urbestfriend
We can't save this match! To do that we need to bat at least 5 sessions scoring 430 runs leaving SA to score 180 runs in final session . I dont think that is possible! Link to comment
kabira
^I agree, ball is already 15 overs old. So Steyn is not going to swinging early tomorrow. If they negotiate the first hour and play positive cricket, and lead goes under 100, knowing Smith, he will become defensive and thats where our chances are. But key is this two have to bat 2 sessions atleast Link to comment
patriot
^ Can't count correctly P_K ? I mentioned 4 out of which Saha and Gambhir floppeed as a I stated. A 50 is enough from a top order player when chasing 550 + ? Link to comment
Karan114
To be honest, Murali has looked more comfortable than SRT in this innings. Link to comment
cowboysfan
this match is over,i will be surprised if we are still playing after tea today. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Tendulkar and Vijay had to do what Kallis and Amla did. I very much doubt you can sustain your concentration against this hostile , pumped up bowling. Link to comment
patriot
:hysterical::hysterical: So basically, your predictions are as good as a coin toss ? :hysterical: Good job. If you have a grain of knowledge in evidence based stock data mining ( I believe you are a wall street aspirant ?) , any evidence of out sample data, with a p of > 0.5 even 0.5000001 is in theory a profitable rule. I din't want to mention ( yet again) SRT's high probablity of failure in such circumstances for that would have as usual set ants in your knickers , his awful record against SA at home notwithstading. Atleast , it was a far better " expert" advise by yourself to dish out fast, bouncy and grassy pitches, Now that Steyn has made true our worst fear - even on a flat deck like this. patriot
http://http://indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=206250 That's way higher than tossing a coin P- Khotey.. Our batsmen have had a great run. It is not beyond Steyn to have a great 5fer spell. Our batters make our bowler look better than they are by posting MASSIVE runs. Our bowlers have to be prepared to perform when our batters post match total of between 500- 600. One poor batting session / great bowling spell by Steyn could cost us a test and then the best we can do is draw the series. So a 2 match series is dangerous that way . I would have backed our team to take the series 100 % if it were 3 match or more. I know we have Zakky and Bhajji too. But Bhajji has been a defensive leg stump darter for a while now. But just look at Styens strike rate and average. None of our bowlers are even close. I am sure he is going to have atleast one awesome spell. Hopefully our bowlers can retaliate collectively to counter that. Link to comment
