Zap_Brannigan
How is it his fault' date=' exactly? Against one of the better ODI teams in the world, we need to be on top of our game. Sreesanth, who is fresh (though not enough match practice) bowled completely erratically, and even his fielding left much to be desired of. Ishant, who's been poor in LOIs, is out. Harbhajan is out. Jadeja, Praveen, and even Yusuf to a certain extent performed well. Raina was tried in the last 10 overs, when his first two overs went for 11 and his last one went for 14. He was taken off duly after. Though his field placements have been erratic, he has been trying his best to manage the bowlers and try different strategies. As Outsider said in another thread, he ought to go back to using spinners in the powerplays (as he did today during the batting powerplay by using Jadeja and Yusuf) - that just throws off the opposition's strategies a little bit.[/quote'] He keeps selecting the same bowlers from a of 7 or 8 bowlers. If one of them fails, he picks another from that pool and when the new guys does bad, he goes back to the old guy. Its not just Dhonis fault as selectors should give him better options. Chandan
That's his standard post match answer to bad bowling; "We should have bowled better". Yes we should have but rarely do . Those 2 have been in the squad for the last few series when we sucked esp bowling the last 10 overs. So Tyagi is the answer according to you? Ishant : rubbish Sree .:rubbish Bhajji ,:rubbish Nehra :rubbish PK ,:rubbish Zaheer :injured Pathan :rubbish Then who would you choose? One Tyagi can't do the entire bowling. And when even he'll bowl rubbish, then also you'll blame Dhoni only? He keeps selecting the same bowlers from a of 7 or 8 bowlers. If one of them fails' date=' he picks another from that pool and when the new guys does bad, he goes back to the old guy. Its not just Dhonis fault as selectors should give him better options.[/quote'] That pool has been provided to him by the selectors and he has no say in the selection of the squad. Why don't you provide a fresh pool of 7-8 bowlers? Just for the benefit of the forummers here. Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
Not saying the Tyagi is but he maybe just do it. How many bowlers have we played more than a handful of games in the last year. Our bowling line is struggling often but Dhoni and selectors are happy just going for the same few bowlers. WC is just a year away. We wont win it with this line up unless batting fires on all cylinders. Just trying someone new and losing a few games is better than using the same old bolwers and winning some. WC should be the priority from now. Link to comment

But maybe they've watched other bowlers available, more that we have done and know that the domestic bowlers are even worse than these bowlers? Didn't SA's much vaunted bowling attack concede 298 despite having a terrific fielding unit, which the Indian bowlers lack clearly? Maybe it is there in the conditions and pitch that the bowlers are going for so many runs? In that case, every batting line-up will have to fire on all cylinders to win matches in the WC, isn't it? Sachinism
We can try out different bowlers, but they're all the same dibbly-dobbly medium pacers. They're gonna get smashed too. I like having PK in the team because his ability to swing it both ways. When the conditions are right, he's a handful, but if they're not like the rest of them he'll get smashed. We gotta also remember the surfaces are pretty good for batting too. Obviously there isn't much excuse for getting bashed like that for tailenders (apart from maybe the batsmen got lucky) but give some benefit of doubt to the bowlers. SA bowlers who are supposed to be superior conceded the same amount of runs and someone got hit for six by Nehra, yes Nehra of all people Link to comment
cowboysfan
i have no sympathy for dhoni, why did he select sreeshanth when everyone knows he is useless in LOI cricket(especially in the sub continent)?.why did he bowl raina in the death overs?.this is not the ipl for petes sake!! topmunda
They should go for this playing 11 for next match: 1. Sehwag 2. Tendulkar 3. Rohit Sharma 4. Raina 5. Karthik 6. Dhoni 7. Jadeja 8. (any batmam from the bench) 9. (any batsman from the bench) 10. (any batsman from the bench) 11. PK Positions 8,9,10 will provide plenty more runs and I'm sure even part-time bowlers will be more economical than Sree-asss and Nehraaa Link to comment

So in IPL he can tie down top order international batsmen when they're looking to hit, but he can't do the same to tailenders in international cricket? Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Look how well Langeveldt bowled. He bowled on the same patta wicket. Even Sehwag was not able to hit him away coz of his clever varitations. We need someone who is specialist. Won't our guys practice these scenarios iduring practice.? Link to comment
