cowboysfan Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 the world cup is in the caribbean.irfan would have been very handy if there was some swing on offer,we now have no medium pace allrounder at all.
diegovegaz Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 irfan should have been in the probables, despite his form

cowboysfan Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Then what is RP' date='PK and other slow bowlers like Munnabhai and Vinay Kumar doing in that squad?Even they are totally depended on swing[/quote'] ayyo, you missed my point yaar.irfan is an allrounder who offers more than the guys you mentioned.
The Outsider Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Can't they publish the list alphabetically?
Online Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Can't they publish the list alphabetically? Abhimanyu Mithun Abhishek Nayar Amit Mishra Ashish Nehra Dinesh Karthik Gautam Gambhir Harbhajan Singh Ishant Sharma M S Dhoni M Vijay Manish Pandey Munaf Patel Naman Ojha Piyush Chawla Pragyan Ojha Praveen Kumar R Ashwin R P Singh Ravindra Jadeja Rohit Sharma S Sreesanth Sudeep Tyagi Suresh Raina Vinay Kumar Virat Kohli Virender Sehwag Wriddhiman Saha Yusuf Pathan Yuvraj Singh Zaheer Khan
wrath Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Very surprised to see Irfan Pathan not there in the probables. He gives balance to side especially since all the allrounders in the Indian playing XI have been spinners ala Pathan, Sehwag, Yuvraj. The bowling is where the places are up for grabs. None of the pacers have been convincing in the shorter format of the game. They have been lacking variety and clear intention in their bowling approach. Umar Gul is brilliant at the death bowling yorker after yorker and his line and length is exceptional. India requires a bowler who can bowl yorkers as well as extract bounce and be accurate with this line and length. With the extra bit of bounce, a player trying to pull the ball can loop the ball straight up. My XI would be as follows Gambhir Sehwag Dinesh Karthik Yuvraj Singh Yusuf Pathan Dhoni Raina Nayar/ Irfan Pathan Praveen Kumar Harbhajan Singh Zaheer Khan Ashwin, Pandey should be in the reckoning to see how they do.
pappu_kanghi Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Irfan not even in the probables? That sucks. I mean these cheeka(Kris Srikanth) peeka reeka's sucks.
guju24 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 really unfairness to IRFAN...I hope he relly outperform everyone in IPL and win player of the series award...
ViruRulez Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Pandey, Ashwin, Vinay Kumar, Mithin included in T20 WC 30 probables while injured Irfan misses Irfan Pathan, who is suffering from a back injury, has been omitted from India's long-list of 30 probables for the ICC World Twenty20 to be held in West Indies from April 30. R Ashwin, who was picked for the Twenty20 matches against Sri Lanka, features in the preliminary squad, that also includes R Vinay Kumar, Naman Ojha and Wriddhiman Saha. Irfan led both the runs and wickets tally for Baroda in the Ranji Trophy, with 22 wickets at an average of 18.54 and 397 runs at 49.62 in five matches. But he missed Baroda's matches in the Ranji Trophy one-dayers. Naman Ojha gets the selectors' nod on the back of his performances in the IPL as Rajasthan Royals' wicketkeeper. In 16 domestic Twenty20 matches, he averages 23.50, at a strike-rate of 125.09. More recently, he struck a strokeful 167 in a Ranji one-dayer against the Railways. Saha, who made his Test debut against South Africa in Nagpur as a batsman, is the fourth keeper in the preliminary squad that also includes MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik. Manish Pandey, who became the first Indian to score a century in the IPL, also figures in the list. Pandey followed his IPL heroics with a string of consistent scores in the Ranji, Duleep and Vijay Hazare Trophies to force his way into the national reckoning. The preliminary squad includes eight batsmen, four wicketkeepers, four allrounders, 10 fast bowlers and four spinners. Probables: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, M S Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, S Sreesanth, Sudeep Tyagi, Rohit Sharma, Ashish Nehra, Ishant Sharma, Abhishek Nayar, Wriddhiman Saha, Naman Ojha, Piyush Chawla, Abhimanyu Mithun, Manish Pandey, R P Singh, Munaf Patel, M Vijay, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin
ViruRulez Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 sorry did not notice this thread and created mine .. please merge my thread too and maybe include the whole cricinfo article in the first post .. Irfan has not been dropped but he is injured
champ Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 our bowling will be a disaster in the World T20 .. we are surely chasing big scores every match .. :giggle:
Rajma Chawal Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm still hoping Irfan makes the final cut if he recovers. Remember, Sehwag wasn't in the probables for the Aussie tour of 07-08 but made the final team.
virufan Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Saha and Naman Ojha ahead of parthiv :hmmm: This is clearly politics from Mr.Cheeka. He has intentionally not selected Parthiv so that he can continue with Dinesh. Saha and Naman Ojha have been selected for namesake.
Sachinism Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Don't mind Naman being in the list of 30 probables. Where does Saha come from
virufan Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Don't mind Naman being in the list of 30 probables. Where does Saha come from Do you need 3 keepers as reserves in the probables. 2 would do- DK and PP.:hmmm:
youngindia Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 rayudu and uthappa shud have been there . the selectors need to be a bit more imaginative in keeping the more talented players in the loop even if they are out of form.
