Karthik is India's best spinner - forget about the T20 format. What the BCCI is doing to him is nothing short of sacrilege.

Fixed, was there at the stadium, it was a nerve cracker game, ups and downs but finally i got my moniez worth and we won :isalute:, but lost the series 4-2 :mad:

Kartik wasn' dropped after his 6-fer vs Aussies. He played the 3 ODIs vs Pakistan, didn't do much and after that was ignored for the CB series with Bhajji getting the nod as the lead spinner. During that domestic season (2007-08), he was injured for most of the matches and hardly played. Then came IPL 1 where he didnt do much , Ojha outperformed him and got the nod as the first choice left arm spinner. Yes he has been doing well in the IPL this time, but if we compare the t20 records of Ojha and Kartik, Ojha emerges as a better choice. Kartik in t20s- 52 matches, 41 wickets, Eco Rate- 6.51 Ojha in t20s- 43 match, 53 wickets, Eco rate 6.9

Neither Ojha nor Kartik will be in the fray. Jadeja will be Dhoni's choice. At this age i don't see a come back for Kartik. How many left armers they are going to carry. Yuvi has improved tremendously with his bowling.

I can argue that Karthik has bowled under English conditions, where it doesnt assist the spinners much whereas Ojha has bowled on Indian soil, that suits most spinners

We are discussing Test matches here. How can he be dropped from the Test squad after trying out in ODIs? This was the same kind of logic that was used to keep Sehwag out of the Test squad when we toured Australia. When he got back, see what he showed us all! :)

Thats slightly confusing. He picked up a 6-fer in an ODI and not a test match. As for him being dropped after that test against Aussies, he played a test vs SA (where Bhajji, Kumble and Kartik all 3 played at Kanpur) , picked 2 wickets and then for the next test at Eden, was dropped as Pathan was preferred. Kumble and Bhajji were the two leading spinners for the side back then with Kartik as the backup spinner in the 15.. And during this entire period , he didn't play an ODI as Bhajji was the preferred spinner and was doing quite well.

Yes, getting into the squad then was tough for Karthik and rightly so. I just cant understand BCCI's reluctance in picking him once Kumble stepped down. In fact it would have even worked better if the spinners were rotated among themselves so that there was no complacency. We could have got more out of Harbhajan in that way, I think.

On crumbler pitches Murali Kartik can be real deadly. But we don't have such pitches anymore. His 9 wicket haul in an innings in Irani Final was a good performance on a crumbling wicket. But he was not picked to play for India at that time. Unless Ojha bowls horribly i do not expect Kartik to stage a comeback.

The problem Ojha is not the front runner here. It will be Ravindra Jadeja. Yuvraj is bowling okay as a part timer. So i am not sure how he would get a call ahead of these 2 considering they have other abilities as well. Kartik might be more than useful on sluggish WI surfaces. No question about that. But will it happen? I very much doubt so due to reasons i mentioned.
