Alright, for those ignorant about wrestling and those who think it's a phony form of sports entertainment, let me tell you that I know wrestling's not real, it's a work. I have been an avid fan of pro-wrestling since I was a kid, and then later developed myself into an internet smark after mingling in the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) for sometime. What people don't realize that even though it's a work (not real), it still requires an enormous amount of dedication, skills, ability, and athleticism for pro-wrestlers to put on a good match. The moves they perform are pre-planned, but the hazardous risks they undertake is real. The results are pre-determined but the pain, injuries and suffering are real. It's as real as real can be. Wrestlers are not judged by wins or loses, it's something out of their hands. That is decided by the bookers. They are judged by their ability to work in the ring, and put on good matches. BTW, by saying that I'm a big pro-wrestling fan I don't mean the current garbage that the WWE feeds the fans. I'm all about old school. Those brilliant workers of the past - The Dynamite Kid (the greatest worker to have ever lived), Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, and leaving many more. I have collected quite a few wrestling DVD's produced by the WWE. They are not available in India though. I've ordered them mostly from Amazon.com, and a few from eBay.com (International). Bret "The Hitman" Hart" - The Best There Is, The Best There Was and The Best There Ever Will Be (3 disc set) 4. Jake "the Snake" Roberts - Pick Your Poison (2 disc set) 5. Road Warriors - The Life and Death Of The Most Dominant Tag Team in Wrestling History (2 disc set) 6. The Greatest Wrestlers Of The 80's (3 disc set) 7. The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection (3 disc set) 8. The Rock - The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment (3 disc set) 9. The Eddie Guerrero Story - Cheating Death, Stealing Life (2 disc set) 10. Viva La Raza - The Legacy of Eddie Guerrero (3 disc Set) 11. The History Of The WWE Championship (3 disc set) 12. Tombstone - The History Of The Undertaker (3 disc set) I've ordered a few, but they haven't yet arrived - The Ladder Match (3 disc set), Brian Pillman - Lose Canyon (2 disc set). I will be buying many more DVD sets in the next upcoming months. I love them and wouldn't trade them for anything. So how many pro-wrestling fans are there on ICF? P.S. Please don't make the mistake of assuming that I'm promoting anything (DVD's). This thread is just for pro-wrestling fans, like myself.

LOL, easily the worst in ring performer I've seen till date. But I won't blame him. He never trained to become a wrestler beforehand. He got the opportunity just because of his size. Add to that the WWE's second biggest market is India. And hence they pushed him to the top to satisfy the Indian fan base.

I used to be a avid fan back in late 90's when WCW was still going strong, I had the NWO and Wolfpack shirts and all whilst pretending I was Kevin Nash, lol, those were the days!!

i used to follow during 90's and early 2000 .. when it used to be WWF... After StoneCold and Rock left then there was a major decline.... Now i rarely see it.... stone-cold-steve-austin-005.jpg

You don't have to watch the current wrestling shows (WWE, TNA) to be a wrestling fan. I'm such a big fan, yet I hardly follow the garbage that the WWE produces these days. I'm into wrestling DVD's. Old classic matches, those are what I'm fond of. Those 5 star bouts are what wrestling means to me. Things have changed. I won't blame Cena because he is an extremely hard worker, and a nice guy backstage. But for such a terrible worker to be pushed to the moon has really repelled a lot of old timers. And it's these kids and teenage girls with no concept of wrestling who keep cheering for Cena, and keeps his merchandise sales extremely hot, for which the WWE refuses to turn him heel or keep the spot light away from him. Title reigns these days are a joke. Shawn Michaels is the finest performer I've seen till date, whereas he was given just 4 World Title reigns. Nash, Sid and Cena are some of the worst workers I've seen yet they were given multiple time champs. World Title means jack regarding how good a worker in the ring is. Cena, being a multiple time champ is not even good enough to lace someone like the great Curt Hennig's boots as a worker, who was never given a world title reign.

Masked Kane was my idol...
His gimmick was that of being the brother of Undertaker. What's hilarious is that both those men weren't even from the same country, let alone brothers. Kane is from Madrid, Spain whereas Undertaker is from Huston, Texas.

Yup, the star power is seriously missing. They build Lesnar into a big star but unfortunately he had other things in mind other than wrestling. Since 2002, the only 3 major stars to have emerged out are Batista, Orton and Cena.

Almost all the fans who come to the arenas to watch live events know it's fake. Wrestling itself is not legit. It's a form of sports entertainment where winning and losing holds no significance on how good a wrestler is. It's about how good of an athlete a guy is, how good they are at the mic, how well they sell their opponents moves, how good they are at whether it's in being technical or a luchador/high flier. The efforts they put in the ring to entertain the fans, the incredible risks they take, the injuries, the pain and the constant travel they have to go through. Just because it's pre-determined doesn't mean they don't have to go through the pain. You'll know the significance when you mingle in the Internet Wrestling community.
