Pathetic atmosphere - world T20

For once we had real men and women cheerleading and not under nourished pale blondies. For once we had sensual, rhythmic dance movements instead of gymnastic acrobatics, for once we had the drums instead of piped music. Love the carib crowd baby.

Atmosphere has been pretty decent. In WI-Ireland game it was amazing and sold out. You don't really expect sell out in places like India, Pakistan, WI when neutral teams are playing anyways. We saw how bad was the crowd in Champions League in India when home teams were out. Though you will usually see awesome atmosphere during T20 domestic cups like IPL, RBS T20 in Pakistan, and Stanford T20 in WI used to get great crowd too. And people complaining about cheerleaders are really jokes. Atleast they are locals and not faked imports from foreign land to please the locals and tv viewers, which sounds as pathetic.

I agree with the cheerleader comment. It is good to see local talent, but I don't think it is thing about white, brown or black. Could the organizers have not found hotter girls in the Carribean?? I am sure there are plenty. I saw only a handful that were decent. A few were downright plump. And where was the energy? All they were doing was standing there and shaking their booty (which black girls are very good at btw). No classical cheerleading movements. Quite disappointed with the cheerleading performance. Also the atmosphere is drab. Man, one should have these tournaments anywhere other than India, SA, Aus or Eng. NZ and WI are a big bore as far as crowds are concerned.....

It is not just a problem of the pitch. The grounds are normal sized so players realise going for hoicks left-right and centre is quite likely to see them back in the dug outs instead of those 6000 "DLF Maximum"s guaranteed by the matchbox grounds of IPL. Look at the number of twos and even some threes in this tournament already and you understand what a difference a larger ground makes. Fans have to realise if they want manufactured "excitement" of "maximums" that deserve to be catches or are they willing to let the game be played in the grounds that were built for it. That said, the shorter version of the game does need qucker wickets.

We need to hold our horses here I think, the tournament has just begun and should pick up momentum. It is vital though that WestIndies last as long as possible for the locals to remain interested. I do not agree with the poor comments on the cheer leaders, they may of any colour but they were actually' cheerful'. The girls and and the guys were dancing merrily and were innovative with their steps! The ground for the game yesterday has a very laid back feel to it though, does not quite suit the frenzy and pace of the T20 game. I think some of the older grounds with larger stands will pack in more punch.

The St Lucia pitch really wasnt that bad for 2020, it seems you are suffering from IPL fever.

You are comparing this crap of a pitch with that one? It is a terrible pitch for T20. Ball should come nicely on to the bat. Batsmen are waiting eternally for the ball to arrive.

I wont comment because I was playing cricket yesterday and didnt see any action but judging from the scores at least the run rate was fairly high, Ill have a look at the games later.

We all thought there would be many less sixes in this tournament compared to the IPL, but a very similar number of sixes have been hit so far.

But they keep hitting sixes. They don't realize some of the sixes they hit in IPL were also humongous. Also these grounds are not as big as they say. One of the six hit was 70 meter six which is pretty small. In India the ground is big. Just that rope is pulled in slightly. Not by much.

About the atmosphere - I would not complain. The gaiety and frolic of the Windies is still there - very much there. It is just the rain that is playing spoilsport. About the grounds there is no comparison. The grounds here are fare more picturesque as well as smooth - unlike the bumpy grounds we had for most of the IPL. Yes, boundaries are not extremely huge consistently but they are better than some of the grounds that we had for the IPL. As has been said earlier, the nature of the pitches also mean that a lot of the times, fielders actually come in from the boundary to take the catch as opposed to teetering on the brink of the boundary and performing acrobatics to take catches.
