sandtest Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Saw, once again Gangaajal -- Ajay Devgan in lead role, on a movie channel......actual story of spraying acid and hint of gundaaraj in Bihar, Laloo's brother in law Sadhu Yadav's name irked Laloo and RJD in Bihar, with director Prakash Jha of this movie who himself is a Bihari has to literally beg Lalloo. Ajay Devgan has won a National award for this movie.
coffee_rules Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Ajay Devgan has won a National award for this movie. Are you sure? I thought he won only for Zakhm and Bhagat Singh. I am not sure if he won for Gangajal also.
coffee_rules Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Oscar movies? Any recos? THis is first time I haven't seen any movie nominated for Oscars.
sandtest Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Are you sure? I thought he won only for Zakhm and Bhagat Singh. I am not sure if he won for Gangajal also. You are right!...he won National awards as "Best actor" for Zakham and Bhagat singh. I guess, Setmax channel in it's "extra shot" programm did mention that Gangaajal won a National award, probably they meant in some category other than best actor.
Cricketics Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Oscar movies? Any recos? THis is first time I haven't seen any movie nominated for Oscars. Tarein zameen par??
Aditi Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I've seen the trailer for this and it looks like the WORST film EVER. lol my company made the chipmunks....
Ram Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I know this may sound totally retarded, but is it only me or there are other people who arent too much into movies ? The way you guys rattle off movie names, sounds as though you watch a new one every alternate day. If I watch a new movie in a theater/DVD once every 3 months, thats a lot. I suppose something is terribly wrong with me.. Sigh...
maggot_brain Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 lol my company made the chipmunks.... :haha:. Is that quote in your signature meant to be a tribute to Pink Floyd?
Aditi Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 :haha:. Is that quote in your signature meant to be a tribute to Pink Floyd? Yeah it is. Simply the best band EVER. Shine on!

Aditi Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Toss up between the Wall and Dark Side of the Moon Delicate Sound of Thunder gets an honorable mention as well :)
maggot_brain Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Toss up between the Wall and Dark Side of the Moon Delicate Sound of Thunder gets an honorable mention as well :) Piper at the Gates of Dawn for me. I prefer the earlier stuff myself. You should get the DVD 'Live at Pompei' if you can. It was filmed in 1971 and is excellent. I also have loads of bootlegs of the Floyd from late 60s and early 70s, they're amazing, especially the one 16th nov 1974 at Earl's Court. Full performance of DSOTM and 'Shine on..' and 'Echoes'. If you go on Bootcity and Dimeadozen you can find tons of great Floyd bootlegs.
Aditi Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Live at Pompeii is another fave...trippy stuff that!!
Rajiv Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 Dus Kahaniyan - OKayish, popcorn movie He was a Quiet Man - Seen a Christian Slater Movie after ages, off beat but interesting

Rajiv Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Tare Zameen Par - Must see, wonderful and the child acting is brilliant too
maggot_brain Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Tare Zameen Par - Must see' date=' wonderful and the child acting is brilliant too[/quote'] This sounds good but the problem is it seems to deal with wealthy middle-class Indians. Where are the films that deal with Dalits and the dehumanising poverty that is so prevalent in India or other social problems? Look what happened when 'The Bandit Queen' was released. Look at the treatment handed out to Deep Mehta. Until there is some artistic merit or social realism in Bollywood films I will leave well alone. And why does there have to be stupid cheesy songs in every Bollywood film? It makes the films disjointed.

IMO
