But then again, my expectations were about the lowest after sitting through Superman Returns (after having very high expectations). I saw Narnia II today. Very boring film, for me at least. Not a bad film - but very very boring.
Ram Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 And everything about the plot of Iron Man seems ridiculous. Tony Stark actually going to Afghanistan to sell his missile is stupid to begin with. And heck, his Afghan captors ask him to 'build' a sophisticated cluster missile in a cave? Ewwwwwwwww..... And which dumb idiots will watch patiently as Start builds body armor, instead of a missile? The plot is so terrible, that the special effects seem unusually artificial.

Although i am very disappointed that you didn't pay heed to my warning in the first place (my review should have been pretty persuasive), the fact that you considered that film to be trash after watching it pleases me. ...and if some multi-billionaire, award winning engineer wanted to sell his warheads in Afghanistan, wouldn't he be airlifted around in a private jet with slutty air-hostesses (like he was later in the film) instead of having to share a seat with some knuckle-headed soldiers in an armored vehicle at the risk of being ambushed ? And exactly my point, he need not have gone to Afghanistan, he need not have traveled in a Hum Vee and worse, there is no way he could have built that armor in a freaking cave. And I am kinda confused, how come the Afghan guys speak in Hindi every now and then? The funny part was, the translations in form of text captions were all wrong. :D
The Outsider Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Just finished watching two in a row : 1. Fracture - Last year's release with Anthony Hopkins. A decent flick - Hopkins is his usual cool self. Pretty impressed with Ryan Gosling's performance. Could have been made a lot taut and fast paced given that it's a thriller/courtroom drama. Drags at times and I was able to guess the mystery portion of the movie about halfway through. 2. Mean Streets - Scorsese's first team up with DeNiro. Really good movie - lots of close up shots, interesting camera angles and lighting, a close up look at NYC's little Italy of the early 70s. The story might appear a bit hackneyed given the number of times it's been narrated but the conceptualization and enactment makes it a must see.

A songless movie of early 70s that defied mainstream box office as most of Gulzar movies do. Watching it I couldnt help but wonder if Vinod Khanna was the most complete actor of his time? To me he is clearly the handsomest, and at the same time buff, actor of Hindi cinema alongside Dharmendra. That coupled with the fact that Vinod Khanna did more meaningful cinemas than many of his famed contemprories.
