Crookbond Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Mallu movies usually have great storylines and top notch acting but they are made on shoestring budgets and have extremely poor production quality' date= so the remakes end up being more popular in the mainstream than the originals. The problem is distribution, I have realized. Some of us try to do something about it but we couldn't really succeed.
Nova Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Also add Katha to the list of old comedies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085776/ Masterpiece indeed!
Desi Cartman Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Chameli ki shaadi was also a gem :girly1:
cowboysfan Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I would add 'Chasme Buddoor' to this list. 'Miss Chamko' anyone? haha yes,-bar bar lagathar:chamko.that was a great movie, those two had great chemistry.
Swing_n_Speed Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Iran was not mindless. They were demanding the extradition of the Shah so that he could stand trial and be punished for his horrible crimes. But US' date=' like the hypocrites that they are, provided asylum and perfect security to their friend. The movie was honest in the reason why Iran was such a place post revolution. US played a big villain for the sake of oil there. And then they pretended to be the holiest of all countries. The savior of the world.[/quote'] Didn't the Shah of Iran die in Egypt? I don't think USA offered the Shah asylum. (not sure though) The Shah's overthrow is awfully similar to Mubarak's with the US subtly supporting the opposition. Talking bout the Shah's horrible crimes....well he was nothing like the current fanatics they have. 10's of thousands were executed for political gains.
Mariyam Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Cowboys, I have seen all of them, and I agree. :D But I have not seen Andaz Apna Apna, so can't compare..lol. I would add Bheja Fry to the list. It's a modern masterpiece, better than the French original imo. hatat paani bharun budoon ja or whatever is the Marathi equivalent of Chullu bhar paani mein doob maro.
