fineleg Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 first about memento, the fact is thereare no nolans in either bollywood or the regional scene. let's leave it at that. no point talking about things that are not going to happen for the forseeable future atleast. my comments are relative to desi standards. compared to many of the other junk dished out, this isone of the better commercial films i don't feel i am being insulted as a viewer.it is breezy and very entertaining. i was occupied for the three hours because i could hook into the central theme of the plot. aamir has done all the hard work. but its not a classic that will absorb me for long after watching as memento did. but rarely any indian movie does.(kamal's anbe sivam(tamil) was the last one with vettaiyadu villayadu close by) is that a good movie!?
Kartikey Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 True. But Ghajini wasn't intended for anything other than entertainment and I thought it achieved it at a high level. As much as I regret saying this' date=' this is Aamir's "Om Shanti Om" moment, I'd feel. In fact, this is a much much better attempt at commercial filmmaking than Om Shanti Om.[/quote'] Definitely, Ghajini is better than the other "masala" films like OSO, Singh is Kinng, Dhoom 2.
Desi Cartman Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Ghajini : super awesome performance by Amir Khan ..
Desi Cartman Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Definitely' date=' Ghajini is better than the other "masala" films like OSO, Singh is Kinng, Dhoom 2.[/quote'] Ghajini is way better than ANY SRK movie ... SRK can only act as a WANNABE Teenager ... :yikes:
flamy Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Watched The Hoax - I thought it'd be a fun movie, but it turned out to be a deep character drama, and a good one.
DomainK Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Definitely' date=' Ghajini is better than the other "masala" films like OSO, Singh is Kinng, Dhoom 2.[/quote'] I haven't seen Ghajini, but I am quite sure that its a much better movie than the one you listed. But I do enjoy watching an OSO or a typical Govinda kind of movie.
flamy Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Machuca. Excellent movie along the lines of The Kite Runner
suraj Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Definitely' date=' Ghajini is better than the other "masala" films like OSO, Singh is Kinng, Dhoom 2.[/quote'] Of course way way better than Singh is king and Dhoom 2 better than OSO although that one I did enjoy because it honestly potrayed itself as an over the top SRK melodrama- mostly SRK movies are totally crap and intolerable
flamy Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Just saw a Telugu movie called Vinayakudu. It's a decent concept and a nice getaway from the usual barf-fest of Telugu movies. However, I'm amazed at the amateurishness of the actors in lesser roles and also some of the main chars. They still get away with such shoddy performances and the audience eats it up. I was cringing at some points, but overall it really is a good movie. Some nice laughs and the main character is well written. There are some sub-plots that could have been better done. Although, I enjoyed the movie best because our very own desi cartman was the lead! :yay: :two_thumbs_up:
Desi Cartman Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 ^ thats so true flamy ... he is my bichda hua bhai ... :haha:  I cant believe it
youngindia Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 is that a good movie!? I have a morbid fascination with the subject of serial killers.also this genre of films is rarely made in our industry and VV i would say is the first decent attempt.

Zap_Brannigan Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 is that a good movie!? Its not an over the top action movie. A bit Gritty but subtle compared to seven (which it kinda reminded me of), a bit dour but subtle. Anyway it is a very good movie by Indian movie standards, but as a mystery, it is not so good as it never engages the audiences by giving us clues. It is basically Kamals Journey on solving the murders and not ours.I just had the wrong expetation.
DomainK Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 ^ thats so true flamy ... he is my bichda hua bhai ... :haha:  I cant believe it Who asked you to go to kumb ka mela?
