What? Sachin was heralded as a great even before he got his international cap. There was a huge documentary style piece on and interview by him when he was just picked for Pakistan. Dravid had quiet a lot of hype during 96. He was supposed to be picked long before the England tour but selectors didn't pick him for the WC as not to debut him in the WC.

First Class is bullahitin judging international talent. There are loads of quality first class batsman all around the world and 80% have turned crap in intl. Cricket. BTW how many tests has Hughes played. BTW are you an Aussie or a Paki. :hmmm:

(Including Sachin, Ponting etc) And it's Australian FC so you know it's not easy. Yeah, so dumb to play Watson instead when he won the Allan Border medal and has been our best player for the past 12 months. It is clear Watson should be in the side, Hughes will have to wait a little bit longer for tests.. However I would take him over Marsh for the one dayers any day!

the indication of him being the best young player is that teams will now be forced concentrate and make strategies on him as well like they do against Sehwag, SRT, Yuvi. He along with Warner are the only U23 batsman who on his own can put his team in position to win the match. This is not the case with Umar, Barath, Rohit Sharma, Jadeja, etc. Morgan and ABDV are not u23..

Well, he has just not made it big yet in Test matches. He promises so much. To me he is still upcoming. With respect to his team, he is an established batsman. At the world level, he is growing all the time. Karan - I did not know Mohammad Hafeez was almost 30. The guy looked pretty young. I actually liked his bowling - one of the few off spinners who bowled the traditional ball as well as the doosra without chucking as far as I could see. Bossbhai - are you doubting Angelo Mathews' ability to last in Test match cricket? Suresh Raina too is an exceptional talent in my opinion. For a long time I have been dead against Dhoni's move of promoting himself over Raina in ODIs. I am sure that will change in the future. f2005 - from what I briefly saw of Steven Smith - he has promise but leg spinners dont really mature until later on. I would be very surprised if he makes it big. He is a proper wrist spinner unlike Mishra or Chawla. So, he will be a naturally attacking bowler - cannot help it. And today's cricket is not very kind to attacking bowlers. Especially spinners. If he does not get empathetic captains he will not last long.
