vvvslaxman Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 He is already over 30. His fitness is okay at this point. You think he should be persisted in this format. Even in IPL he was tonked around in the later stage. Without any swing/reverse swing he is a cannonfodder in this format.
vvvslaxman Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Viru and Dhoni can play this format as their approach don't change much. Gauti can take a break too. Dhoni, Yuvi, Veeru should be retained. Then guys like Raina, Nohit can occupy other spots.
The Outsider Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 For T20s, we should choose from the following attack : Nehra P Kumar Trivedi Yadav Harbhajan Ojha Jadeja With the amount of money and exposure involved very few players will sit out voluntarily. This is where the BCCI and selectors should step in and demarcate teams amongst formats and give appropriate compensation to players if needed. Of course, that is all in a dream I just had.
vvvslaxman Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Zak is only embarrassing himself. He just did not have any bite in his bowling. He was just running in and bowling in the slot for the batsmen.
The Outsider Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 For the batting : Sharma Pandey Kohli Yuvraj Raina Karthik Uthappa Vijay I Pathan Y Pathan can play. In all that's a decent 17 player group.
The Outsider Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 ^ Yeah, also Ashwin, Mithun, and V Kumar in the bowling ranks and there is a decent pool of 20+ cricketers to play T20 without any of the crucial players getting involved.
Deleted_User_1 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Don't matter; it doesn't take tontee-tontee for Yuvi to wither away, it is alcohol! Zak, the trundler is over the hill

Ramzz Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I think he is a fine bowler...but must realize that bowling length even in the earlier overs won't do much as batsmen are continuously looking to attack that length. I feel, he should stick to yorkers and the odd bouncer/slower ball in this format. Just what Gul/malinga have mastered.

vvvslaxman Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up: that's all he needs to do keep it simple That is not his natural line and length. I do not think he brings too much to the tabel to be considered an automatic pick for this format. I will look elsewhere. They have to keep trying different bowlers.

We should try bowlers like Trivedi, Umesh and even Dinda (dont get me wrong as this bowlers are good in slower balls, yorkers and bouncers)
HowardRoark Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up: that's all he needs to do keep it simple While the idea is simple, execution is not. I doubt his ability to consistently bowl yorkers like Malinga or Gul does.
vvvslaxman Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 No. But the question is- If not Zak, then who? Anyone who has done okay at the IPL.
ViruRulez Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I personally still dont rate tontee-tontee much .. so I would not like any of our senior players to play it .. I would have sent a nearly fresh team to play it. Give chance to IPL talents instead for T20 .. I dont give a damn nowadays if we win or lose in T20 as I am a bit fed up of this crap. T20 is at least 60% luck and does not judge actual talent. I would rather try with new players in this format rather than making the senior players play.
ViruRulez Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Anyone who has done okay at the IPL. Zak also did well in IPL this time round .. but every T20 competition is nearly tukka .. if you perform well in IPL it does not mean you will do at another competition .. I would say any promising youngster should be given chance .. IPL would be a benefit though it does not guarantee good performance .. that is why I am rooting for Umesh Yadav rather than Vinay Kumar though he did not bowl that great in IPL compared to VK .. his pace will be more handy and he has got that extra pace needed to create a speedstar .. there are hundreds of Vinay Kumars at intl. level and with his pace he will be taken for a ride by top teams
