The only thing that can MAYBE save them- 1. 100 from Viju 2. Smashing 50 which maybe wins us the game and a 5ish wicket haul. I don't see either happening realistically. But Viju has greater skill and is a VVS kinda player.

There are many players waiting in the wings who will grab any opportunity to play in ODIs and quickly prove their mettle. Time is running out and we cannot keep on giving 'chances' to players, be it Murali or YP. There are certain players who are not good enough to play international matches. They have a maximum limit to perform and even if you give them more chances, they might improve little bit but not much. India is a Top Ranked team in ODIs and Test matches and Selectors should be very careful to maintain the quality of the team and not mess around.

even if he has shined do you really think he is near the squad at the moment he was and will remain miles away from the full strength squad cause our top order is so strong. which is why i mentioned somewhere else its more heartening to see kohli and sharma do well cause thats where we need backup pronto. No, Murali Vijay doesnt have a chance even if he had shined, simply because we are top heavy in the ODI openers slot at the mo, so it is a long wait for him and the same thing in the middle order also. and you are right, like VVS keeps asking nobody know what Yusuf role is in the team and nobody knows why he is in the team, but he still keeps finding a place, may be Cheeka has a Pathan bias :hmmm:

Vijay has been poor through the T20 World Cup and this ODI series but Yusuf is on a completely different level of mediocrity. Vijay at least looks to have the talent to make it at international level despite his confidence getting shattered by what happened in the West Indies. But Yusuf is utter trash at this level. He may be a superstar in the IPL - good for him, he should stay there and leave proper cricket to others.

Vijay seems to have lost his form. Its better for him to go back to domestic cricket and work hard on manoeuvring the ball in the gaps. He struggled in that big time.

After the series is over, he needs to get back in the nets and figure out placement and rotating the strike. He seems to be completely broken now. This guy has transformed from a test only player to a very good T20 player(of the IPL variety) within a few months. So i believe he has the motivation to refine his skills further in a short period of time and learn from his mistake. He shouldn't be in the team till he figures himself out. I am not saying this because i want him dropped or think that he doesnt deserve a chance. He does deserve his spot. People like Pathan and Rohit has had dozens of chances and so should vijay. But looking at long term, he needs to figure out his batting now.

What do you expect me to do? Look, having good technique is not enough. I'm sure everyone here agrees that Vijay is technically the most solid player in the 15 out there. But hey, if technique was everything, VVS would be in the team, not out of it. 1 100 man. Vijay needs 1 100. And all things will start to look up for him.

Yep. We agree on this aspect which I said a few posts back- Murali needs a bit more time in the Domestic circuit, I feel. A 100 can do a world of good to his confidence. But I don't think he'll be challenging the seniors for a place as strongly as Rohit bhai.
