"I am working very hard and I want to play for the country. I am really hoping to make a comeback into team India," Sreesanth told PTI here. The tempermental Sreesanth, who plays for the King's Eleven Punjab in the Indian Premier League, said young cricketers get much needed exposure by playing in IPL. "IPL has given more opportunities for youngsters." On not being appointed as captain of the Kerala Ranji Trophy team, he said he was "disappointed". He said he had been working hard for improving Kerala cricket and helping the youngsters. "In the last season, I had led the state in one match," he said. "Though I have not taken a final decision, I might opt for playing for another state in the coming season," Sreesanth, apparently hurt at not being appointed as captain, said. Sreesanth said immediately after Raiphy Vincent Gomes was chosen as the Kerala captain, he had sent a congratulatory message. "Even if I play for some other state, it is because I want to play more cricket so that I could do well and get into team India", he said. Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) had chosen 25 probables for the Ranji cricket team to be led by all-rounder Raiphy Vincent Gomes, recently. Sreesanth is in the probables list. KCA secretary TC Mathew told PTI that the probables were selected by a five-member selection committee, who were all former Ranji Trophy players. Terming Sreesanth's reaction as 'emotional', Mathew said "captaincy is not demanded by any players." "If Sreesanth has decided to play for another state, then he will have to obtain NOC (no objection certificate) from Kerala Cricket Association. Once application is given for NOC, The KCA's Central council will discuss and take a decision on that," he said.

Why do I get a feeling that Sree will be ignored for RSA tour by cheeka and his monkey bunch ? As far as I am concerned, Sree is a must in test bowling line up and more importantly on foreign strips. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Cheeka does not send Murali Vijay as our back up bowler :giggle:

^ Isn't Srikkanth's term getting over this October? I hope some sanity is restored to selections after that with the World Cup and important away series coming up. Can't believe this is the kind of crap we've got for having the first fully paid bunch of selectors! :mad:

Oh I was not aware about Cheeka's contract expiring. Good news I suppose. India did not win a single multi national tournament under these selectors and have failed in delivering consistent performance.

Well To me he looks a bowler who sometimes try too many things in just one spell, but when he is on song, he is good to watch, the lovely late outswinger that he bowls is the ball that outfoxes many batsman, he can work up decent pace and most important can reverse a lil bit too when the ball is old. Talking about his selection in S.Africa, his previous tour should be enough to get him selected, he was one of the positives out of that series.He bowled really well there and he should be selected to places where the ball swings naturally like England and New Zeland too.

That too but more importantly his spell in Kanpur against SL is more than enough for me to convince me that he is the best amongst the worst we carry.

Well his spell at Kanpur was too good a spell on such a dreadful track.Dead as a dodo and flat and flaccid as a "paata", and here we have a comeback boy sreesanth whose strength is swing bowling, and he comes on a track like this, where there isn't an inch of movement, and yet he bowls some beauties and beats the bat on several occasions, there has to be something special about him and when he understands the talent that he possesses,then he will be a very tough bowler to face because he will know his strength better and will not try and experiment much.

Why just SA tour. We need Ishant and Sreesanth fit and firing for us if we have to retain our no 1 rank, be it in Sri Lanka, against NZ and Aus at home or away in SA. If both are fit (even thoug only one of them might play in SL and in home tests), we would surely carry our no 1 rank to next year and beyond. Imagine if those two arent picked for tests, who else do we have? I can't see any good replacements.

So 2 bad tests and a man goes out of favour? He MUST come back. Good news for Indian cricket that the selection committee changes soon. He can do whatever he feels like with his CSK after that, I don't care. Make Vijay bat, bowl, field, keep, lead... I don't care.

We all saw how our test squad was picked for the RSA test series, didn't we ? IMO, it was a bigger blunder than Pak selectors selecting the 'banned' players :wall:

He is a good test match bowler but its always risky play him....I still remember the England tour where he was our biggest hope in swinging conditions to bowl well...but he was always searching for his rhythm in that series..that is the biggest problem with him..he loses his action and run up very easily and then lost the plot..same thing happened with him in BD test series too.......too Risky....I think RP SIngh will also be good in SA condition..he always bowls well when there is help for him......

S Sreesanth is all set to leave Kerala cricket. The cricketer, while speaking to media persons in Kochi, said that he was ill treated by the Kerala Cricket Association authorities and that he is seriously thinking of representing some other state in the Ranji trophy. Sreesanth was unhappy after Kerala state senior selection board decided to strip him of the captaincy. Sreesanth said that the team had performed well during the last season under his captaincy, and he does not know why he was removed from the captaincy. He further said that he was suffering for the past couple of years and that there has been lot of back-stabbing against him. He said that while several authorities were warm in front of him, many tried to finish his career. He added that he was a world-class bowler who was respected all through and was unhappy on the attitude of the authorities. Sreesanth revealed that he had received good offers from several states, but had rejected them for the sake of playing for his home state, adding that he had performed well during the last season. Meanwhile, reacting to Sreesanth's statement the Kerala Cricket Association secretary and BCCI member T.C. Mathew said that the state association has not done anything wrong. He said that the captaincy is something, which has to be achieved and not asked for. He also said that the five-member selection committee who selected the team and captain was unanimous in giving the team captaincy to Raifi Vincent Gomes instead of Sreesanth. Mathews felt that what Sreesanth did was totally immature, adding that he wouldn't like to react to such statements. However, Sreesanth did get some support in the form of former BCCI secretary S.K. Nair, who said that Mathews should have given more respected to the 26-year-old pacer as he had represented the country several times.

Knowing nothing more, it seems like KCA factions are using Sreesanth as a pawn in their ego matches.

He is our only wicket taking bowler ,he took the most wickets versus southafrica of our seamers and its SHOCKING he has been not picked for Asia cup where we will lose. he will go for runs but who does not? atleast he can give early breakthroughs
