I do not think this is agreeable. Yes, it can be true some days but again games are usually lost when your 5th bowler bowls bad which changes the whole game. So, at the end, I think it is better to have 5 bowlers who can bowl well and there are already 6 batsman so if the whole team perform to their role, it should be a comfortable win
dont think so,a solid no.7 is crucial for capitalising on work done by the batsman, more so with batting PP.
See above point, and the stats and performances of our those part time bowlers are not very impressive. Just try to remember, it was only a few years ago, where our biggest problem was the part time bowler which made us lose many matches, so when Jadeja solves it, people start to neglect that problem
u know what,i was just watching Jaya He programme on Neo showing game against Eng.Yuvraj was turning the ball more than Jadeja ever would.i'm telling they can be good with some practise as for stats,Jadeja averages 42 with E/R of 4.8.Yuvraj averages 40 with E/R of 5.not much difference.not sure Jadeja's solved the problem:hysterical:
Jadeja can do strike a ball, he has done decent in IPL and it clearly shows he need time to settle. And you are just saying like the likes of IP, YP can just the best players for no.7. Both have their limitations in batting and they have also struggled in the no.7 slot when they were given a chance.
IPL is hardly anything to go by.IP can do both job of rebuilding n striking.Jadeja cant hit big.Yusuf cant consolidate, but on these flat tracks, even hes better no.7 than Jadeja
Probably it just tells what saneindian was telling, when u already have great finishers like raina, dhoni who all loves to bat at the end. Maybe lets try to send Jadeja up the order, after all he is good at running and can rotate strike during the middle order. More important, it is about opportunities. Just like how IP got a chance to bat up the order, it showed us he can bat, so why not try that with Jadeja as it is really about confidence as Jadeja domestic performances clearly show he can bat and bowl. So there is definately potential but now it is up to our indian management to make sure Jadeja is given chances.
we cant specist batsman like Raina n MSD(yes MSD would walk in any team as a specialist bat)batting low downat 7 just because Jadeja cant bat there.they need to have maximum overs as they r our main bats.although since Irfan is off the radar, this seems the only option, its much better than Jadeja batting at 7:haha: as for IP,he started his career at 8,its only after he showed promise to bat well n hit big shots that he was promoted to 7.why is Jadeja batting at 7 straightaway?let him earn it

Ifan has a strike rate as bad as Jadeja despite all his 6 hitting abilities!! BTW talking of number 7 and power hitting abilities, check the stats for batting positions between 7-11 for the likes of MSD, Bhajji, Robin Singh, Zak etc supposedly guys who can hit 6s at will. You will be surprised.

n Jadeja has a worse bowling average thn Irfan despite all his wicket taking abilities

lol Bhajji n Zak:hysterical:wen did they bat 7.they r bowlers who can bat,not alllrounders Robin Singh is frm earlier decade.game hs moved on.he doesnt qulalify.Dhoni averages 40 with S/R of 96. i'm not looking someone as good as MSD.but someone who can be reliable n also contribute with the ball

It has indeed moved on and so has Irfan Pathan's bowling form!! BTW has Irfan played one good knock down the order which helped us win? I cannot think of one unless you can find something. He was a very good allrounder between 2005-2006. ut since 2007, his batting and bowling graphs have followed a reverse trend. In fact his batting in ODIs too has gone down with his bowling since 2007 as batting averages of 19 in 07 and 08 suggest (along with a bowling avg of 46 and 43 in those years). As I said in a earlier post, Irfan Pathan is 2 matches away from being criticised as a "tried and tested failure" once again. However I would be extremely happy if he can indeed contribute both with the bat and ball if given a chance.

I remember Irfan along with Yusuf win a T20 match against SL when India were on the brink. It was only a small cameo of 20 or 30 (I think) but it was certainly a match winning one. Jaddu has had NUMEROUS opportunites to play such cameos, be it T20 or ODI, to seal a match but has failed to do so. The time has definitely come to look at other number 7 all rounders and Irfan should definitely be back in the mix.

We are talking about ODIs here. Jadeja shouldnt be playing t20s. For the bolded part, why dont you try giving the reason why should he be given a chance?

The problem isn't with Jadeja. The problem is that we're missing the powerhouse batting that made the Indian team the best batting lineup the past few years. The BEST batting for India usually follows a trend down the lineup: Gambhir: Anchors the top order Sehwag: Power hitter SRT/Dhoni: Anchor the middle Yuvraj/Yusuf Pathan: Power hitter We need to get back to that formula and it's only a matter of time before Yuvraj/Sehwag come back to that kind of form. In the meantime guys like Jadeja/Rohit can fill in. Raina is the one player that has really done well and legitimely can fight for a spot in the final XI once we have a full strength side. Put it into perspective.

he last played for us a year back, has been doing well in domestic cricket,so how do u know his bowling form is bad

may not help us win,but hes played some very good innings with great S/R.tell me wen Jadeja does it n he won us that T20 that westmidz says

hes shown the ability to hit big n also consoliidate,so thats not the question.one big point we r missing is Irfan is a big match player,he steps up on big occasions.like he won us T20 WC finals.Jadeja OTOH freezes under any pressure n makes stupid mistakes

let him play those 2 matches then.Jadeja isnt gonna improve overnight.hes being criticsed too.give Irfan a chance atleast to come back, instead of seeing Jadeja screwing up games wen we know he will

SRT in MO? n Yusuf there

Lord, it's not necessarily the batting order, but batting partnerships. It doesn't matter where SRT/Dhoni bat. Their job is to anchor the innings and let the other guys accelerate around them. When you see India score 300 plus totals this is the method they use. That's why Dhoni and SRT are such valeable players. Not only can they anchor the innings but score at a quick rate.

ok,u said anchoring the middle,so got confused. i agree.also i see Yusuf as a better no.7 than Jadeja on flat Indian pitches

Precisely. With such a powerhouse batting line up, we have more often than not underperformed in last one year in ODIs. By the 40th over, 5-6 wickets down is not a happy situation to be in.

i would rather see useless yousuf pathan at 7 and 2nd spinner than Jadeja ; i still cant understand why we keep picking him up. Now in a true indian style Jadeja will bowl well against kiwis and secure his place for remaining games of series and in final srilankans will hammer him left right

Maybe if you start watching some cricket then you can understand why
