Emerging Players Tournament 2010

Looks like this is the first bouncy pitch in this tournament, and we can see how the batsmen have struggled here. Just look at the dismissals: Over 5.3: Maxwell to Dhawan, no run, OUT, trying to cut away through backward point and catches a thick edge to backward point where a comfortable catch is taken Over 6.5: Hazlewood to Rahane, no run, OUT, short of a length with pace and bounce, catches the shoulder of the bat and a terrific catch is taken at first slip to earn another wicket to COE Over 12.5: Hazlewood to Mukund, no run, OUT, caught on the crease playing outside his body and edges away to the keeper who takes a comfortable catch to give Hazlewood his second wicket in a great spell Over 12.6: Hazlewood to Patel, no run, OUT, chasing a wide delivery outside off with a bit of swing and has edged that for a regulation take for the keeper Over 20.4: George to Pujara, no run, OUT, short at the body and pulled straight to mid on for a simple catch from a mistimed pull shot Now India need 19 more with Naman and Pandey at the crease. If they win this, they might beat Kiwis for the second place in the table to qualify for the final.

JD Unadkat 5.2 1 8 4 and econ of 1.50 put this guy in the indian team NOW.
Trust me after watching him today. He still has to bulk up a bit. He was like Ishant when he first started off. His action needs improve a bit as well, its still a bit wild.

He got lot of bounce and carry out of the Indian bowlers. He was the fastest as well. To me reminds me of RP Singh but a lot faster and hits the deck most importantly. But comparing him to the Australian bowlers........he was no where near them. The australian bowlers had lot of pace and bounce zipping through to the keeper. Umesh Yadav had pace today but couldnt control his line, and got clobbered all over the ground. And he dropped a catch that was worse then Umar Amin lol :nervous: Even Piyush chawla got abused all over the field today, he was bowling like a club cricketer.

what did you make of pujara. how strong is he on the backfoot? does he play any nice shots? i alwyas thought this guy would be our next top batsman in tests...
Pujara had the best temperament, he just rotated the strike and played the ball according to the situation. Dhawan went all out guns blazing and got out cheaply trying to cut but the ball rised.

Ah nice one, thanks man. I think you shd spam away buddy :D a few choice ones at least... What were the Indian fielding standards like generally? Not great Im guessing. Shame were missing Tyagi he'd have been useful on this pitch No standout batters as such going into the final, Mukund and Rahane are top scorers after 3 matches thanks to good knocks vs NZ. Chawla heads the wicket takers list for India Could be a repeat of the last EPT where (IIRC) the Saffies hammered everyone before we beat them in the final!!

The fielding was alright. But compared to the the aussies...............:winky: When both teams were doing drills the aussies were diving left right and centre while the Indians just practiced ground fielding and throwing it back to the keeper. And the throwing actions for lot the Indian players I noticed arent in a proper techinique. no joke. but I can throw better then some of the players, maybe because I learnt my cricket in Oz :--D photo0170k.jpgphoto0166o.jpgphoto0168m.jpg Excuse the quality of some of the pics. They were all taken from my phone.:icflove:
