Can't believe that Indian players haven't even assembled at one place in India till now when they have a match to play from 13th July in SL! Many players like Dravid, Laxman, Ishant, Sreeshanth, Sachin etc have not been with the team since February. Will they all leave separately and meet in Sri Lanka? Indian scheduling is getting ridiculous these days.

Despite the Zaheer setback, its good that there is no x factor (so far) that troubled us last time, and the primary weapon of many a lankan victory is going to retire after the first test. Going by our sluggish starts in every test match series, a draw first up wouldnt be that bad. Lanka have a good batting lineup but their bowlers such as Kulasekara rely on assistance from the pitch and if its a seaming wicket, our bowlers have done a decent job at times.

We will know if Dravid Lax and Sach are still in form...considering they havent played much cricket for some time. I would also like to see how our bowlers perform in that game... that could hlp us gauge what we could expect in this tour.

we have never had training camps before also .. even before series with many better teams and still our batting line up has been upto it so i dont see a point to worry about

Well if God forbid... India manages to lose the first test, you will see lots of commentators / fans/ supporters raising this very issue of lack of tour games and training camps as reasons for defeat. And all will be forgiven if the team manages to win... as usual

Indian team to leave for Colombo tomorrow Chennai, Thu, Jul 08 2010 The Indian cricket team will leave for Sri Lanka tomorrow, without newly married skipper MS Dhoni, to play three Tests and a tri-nation ODI series starting July 18. S Sreesanth and Abhimanyu Mithun, who replaced the injured Zaheer Khan, arrived in the city, while Sachin Tendulkar will reach in the evening. "Tendulkar missed his morning flight and is expected to land in Chennai at 7:15 in the evening," according to airport authorities. Other Indian players will be arriving here in batches, with vice-captain Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh expected to arrive at 10:30 pm before leaving by Sri Lankan Airlines tomorrow. Dhoni, who recently got married to childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat, will be reaching Sri Lanka directly. Incidentally, a function is slated to be organized in Chennai tomorrow to honor Chennai Super Kings' title triumph in IPL III. The function will also extend honorary membership to Dhoni for his achievements as captain of India and CSK. The location is at the Madras Cricket Club inside the Chepauk stadium. © PTI http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/28036/indian-team-to-leave-for-colombo-tomorrow

I hope these guys dont give excuses like tiredness, less time for preparations, air sickness, etc etc later.

Dhoni takes wife, rain to Colombo His wedding may have been a clandestine affair, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s arrival at the team hotel was certainly not secretive, reports HT Correspondent. More... Dhoni takes wife, rain to Colombo HT Correspondent Colombo, July 11, 2010 His wedding may have been a clandestine affair, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s arrival at the team hotel was certainly not secretive. Since the hotel management was aware of the Indian skipper’s arrival timing on Saturday, they had arranged for a grand celebration for the newlywed couple. Since the Indian team had left for their first practice session of the tour, Dhoni and his wife, Sakshi, headed to their room. But soon, Dhoni was back to business as he joined some of his teammates for a training session in the gym. It was followed by a team meeting, attended by all the members except Harbhajan Singh, who was “feeling dizzy”. Meanwhile, the team could not have a go at the nets, thanks to a steady drizzle. A shower greeted the players at the R. Premadasa Stadium, which looked like the Wankhede Stadium since it is being renovated for next year’s World Cup. After waiting for a good hour for the rain to subside, the players boarded the bus and headed to the hotel. If the rain persists in the coming days, the team will have to make do with training at one of the indoor facilities in the Lankan capital. If the rain gods intervene during India’s warm-up game in Colombo, their preparations for the first Test, in Galle from July 18, will be seriously affected.

I think Dhoni will be too tired to play cricket for this series.
He should drink water more to compensate the excessive fluid loss. Apart from that he should take daily dosage of Dabur Chyawanprash with Milk. On a positive note, Jaddu is not in the tour. So he can save bit more energy..
