saneindian Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 BUMP. Excluding BD Gambhir's innings in 2010 : 12, 1, 25, 2, 0, 25, 0, 21 Has been out mostly either fishing outside off stump or LBW trying to play across the line. The problem with him has been the injuries IMO. Hasn't had enough time to recover and then get back into his normal batting rhythm. Hopefully he will turn it around before the series ends and will play a couple of good knocks to boost his own morale before the SA series.
Gunner_Mania Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I think it is just a temporary dip. Hopefully he will bounce back before this series is over. He has not had a run of matches this year due to injuries, his personal choices etc. If he remains in jury free and gets a few matches under his belt together, I am sure he will come back roaring.
Andy Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 More than anything alll i can see that he is not Timing the ball well. Thats not a healthy sign when you are out of form.
Lord Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 if he doesnt get a big score in this series we should seriously consider Vijay for SA series,he has been in superb touch
Serani Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Never really rated him, still.......better than having Alistair Cook!
Dravid Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Honeymoon ended, thats what :P looking at players like him, who have great 1-2 years and then fall off... just shows how good our god is, that he just keeps going and going
Shakthi Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Actually he got two fifties in asia cup but in tests yes his form has not been great may be technical aspect.
fineleg Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Test-1 2nd Inn Ahmdbad Gautam out for a Duck! Just hanging his bat out for an edge He is totally out of form. Very bad sign for SA series.
Andy Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 He needs to be given a wake up call. Selectors need to tell him Son go and play Domestic cricket Score some runs and get back to the team the way you did in 2007. Vijay should be preffered ahead of Gambhir.

I dont think selectors will drop GG from SA tour. Well it depends on how the next 2 matches versus NZ goes. But both M.Vijay and GG will tour SA, and upto MSD and Kirsten on who gets into the playing 11

(Tests and ODIs - since he is in both squads)

fineleg Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Finey we can drop him for the rest of the two tests. Cant we? I suppose we can. But selectors may not do it. They will keep thinking he'll click back to form, and need to back him. So, I dont know how this is going to turn out. Maybe give him Test-2 and if he does not click, certainly drop him for Test-3 and play Murali Vijay. I really hope somehow GG finds form, we are going to need him at his old 2008 best for the SA series!
Bublu Bhuyan Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Needs to get his head back in the game. He has been one of our MVP's. He has a lot to do with the journey to our number one Test ranking. I hope he comes good in the next two Tests.
Ranjha Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 His form is really worrisome. Slightly offtopic: Is he gonna be our number 3 in the worldcup?
msplash9 Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Gauti and Dravid got two more test to get back to form . We need both against South Africa . We cant try Pujara and Vijay in South Africa .
saneindian Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Gambhir is one player under the pump in both ODIs and Tests. In tests Vijay is breathing down his neck and in ODIs Kohli has been doing fantastically well. Perhaps not the best time for Gauti to hit bad form. But then he is capable enough to come out of it. THe best thing would be to give him another test and if he fails, then ask him to play some ranji trophy matches to score some runs and get his confidence back, THis would also mean him missing the ODIs vs the kiwis. The 2nd test ends on 16th November. Between 17th Nov and 4th Dec, Delhi will play 3 Ranji games, Gauti should try and play at least two of them before he heads to SA 10 days before the 1st test begins in SA. Last time when we went to SA, we had Jaffer in form but Sehwag struggling, lets not repeat the same this time. Best way for us to win the series in SA will be for both our openers to show the same form they showed for a period of 18 months prior to Gambhir's problems vs SA earlier this year.
sudheer kumar Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Gauti and Dravid got two more test to get back to form . We need both against South Africa . We cant try Pujara and Vijay in South Africa . You are right..... We need Gambhir and Dravid in SA But team should try Vijay and Pujara at least in practice match. If they play well........ it will be useful in future. Yuvraj should include in squad. Other wise he may lose his confidence. That will be harmful to team before world cup. Selectors need to remember that he is waiting for a chance(comeback) in Test Cricket.
