It doesn't help for a young player to come into a side who are getting smashed, it's much easier when it's the other way around. There has been too much pressure on him, every time he has come into bat Australia have been under the pump.

Seems Ponting wanted players who had the firey attitude like him and didnt care if not good players. Thus means Smith in and Hauritz out!

A spinner who picks up 12 wickets against India in his 1st outing has to be good even if he gave away 200 runs ,I think Aussies gave up too early on Krejza,he deserves more chances

It seems every game he has either delivered max. 3 overs of buffet bowling or played some useless run-a-ball or less innings. Bits and pieces players in Tests is bad enough, but I can't imagine the way he is employed being good for maximising whatever talent he apparently has. Aussie fans, any ideas?

It's clear that he has a lot of talent; I think the selectors are sort of just trying to give him as much game time as possible to get some experience so that when the more senior players retire he is ready to step up. He has a lot of work ahead of him though, that's for sure.
VRV Singh Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I only just saw he's out of the Test squad now. Usually the musical chairs policy for spinners can't be advocated, but this was the right call. It can't be helping the kid though. In a year he's gone from leading the Test spin attack to barely bowling in ODIs. I wonder how much faith they are going to show in him from now.

North for all the good he did in his first few series in the team has really dropped off and I think that when Hauritz comes back into the side (as he will), that North is the player who should be dropped for Smith. There is not a lot to seperate them at the moment, but as I said North is 31 and Smith 21, so the sooner we throw Smith in the sooner he will consolidate his spot in the team and I think that would benefit us hugely. You mentioned North topped the averages against NZ, yeah? Well considering he got his career off to a blistering start and topped the averages against NZ, then why is his average only 37? I think he is very inconsistent, only scores either big or low (and its the latter more often than not) if thats the case then the aussie future is quite weak MAAITEEE.

I've watched him play like Bradman for Notts but he never makes a run for Australia in ODIs.
