In this day and age of Justin Bieber, Akon etc where a kid's adolescent **** is the highest viewed video song on youtube..who do you think is the real deal? I was not born in the 70s or was too young in the 80s to have personally experienced rockstars like Freddie Mercury or a young Steven tyler from Aerosmith but I still connect with them. How justified is it to elevate our present day music geniuses to that level, when they cant even sing like the original, live..Case in point Akon or a Sean Kingston. I am no one to tell whose music is the real deal or to demean anyone but just wanted your thoughts.. Do add your own favorites... BTW..Can any of our present day stars command or influence an audience live like this, T7xmH-Amt2k or 8v626CMvM5Q

Music is subjective. If something moves you be happy with it. I might not like your bands and vice versa but yeah feck popular music. All genres have their fan base...I gotta represent EDM yo....................... :hail: Mko7RpS8Nxo n1sxd3Z9lvc K7xFVf8o3RE 5bryWdRmc3I

Kraftwerk - fathers of electro/techno music. This band inspired an entire genre of electronic music, and influenced other genres. This is a live performance of their song "The Man Machine" (first made in 1978) where the band members are just standing with their laptops/mixers and manipulating the electronic sound. The melody is so minimal yet beautiful. It sends me to a futuristic place...where machines rule. As I said, any music which moves you and stimulates your senses is the real deal.... 3T65NpyfPkQ Kraftwerk - The Robots We are the robots...dun dun dun...we are the robots...dun dun dun  d_MFJwDThPg

This is some insane good stuff guys...As I said, everyone is entitled to their views, but some of the current lot are pathetic. Their music would fade away within a couple of years, but the classics (some of which have been posted/mentioned above) have been and will be the real deal. Whats music, when it doesnt stimulate or affect you. I know there is a song thread, but I hope this thread would be an eye opener for everyone wanting to explore the kind of music that exists beyond the Biebers, Akons, Miley Cyrus etc..

Biebers, akons etc isnt music its just sound with lyrics that mean nothing. Hip Hop [which I consider the "realest" music] has been destroyed by commercialism and auto tune with the likes of Lil Wayne talking about how much money he has, how many cars he has how many *****es he has. Its quite disgusting that he actually earns money and totally discredits hip hop away from its origins. I will give you an example. H6Q4s_ZdvAQ I mean what is this? Some illiterate who cant speak properly talking about lemons, yet it has 12 million hits on YT? I could go on for days about how modern music has destroyed hip hop as it was known.

Come on. Music has always been changing. Stop acting butthurt. In about 50yrs another wave of new type of music will takeover and those who like the current hip pop/rap artists will whinge about how their type of music used to be. If you are really concerned, then go make some music that you think is 'true music' and show it to the world. The world is the judge no gown no gavel.

At the risk of sounding like an old fool, very little music these days can be classed as truly orginal. Thats why you see young kids who really enjoy their music listening to bands from previous decades.

hip hop is dead' date=' the current artists like Wayne and Soulja boy have killed it. Lost cause.[/quote'] wow So it takes only 2 artists to take over the industry?..........wayne is a proven artist. Out of the thousands of songs he did only about 20-30 songs used auto tune. Hes one of the top selling artists, he must be doing something right..... but people have the tendency to look for the bad ones and bash it to its death.... Soulja boy had one hit and is MIA ever since.

Today's pop stars are not musicians, but recording artists. I think 80s started this trend and killed "real" music. Now. it's all manufactured. Some are good listens, but still coming from an assembly line of paid musicians who work for the stars. Every damn one of them. Thanks to "classic" rock FM stations, we still get to hear "real" music.
