Well Its true.By not concentrating on form and doing your exercise quickly, you are using the weight to do your work for your muscles when it should be the other way around. You need to control the weights not vice versa. Go slow and concentrate on your breathing as mentioned and you'll see a huge difference.

I have been doing weight training for the last 2 years. For the first year, I only did weights during the week and cardio during the weekend. I gained muscle but did not lose fats as much. Now I do weight training in the morning and cardio at night...have lost considerable amount of weight and no muscle loss. I was vary of doing weight training and cardio on the same days but it is working out for me :)

Guys- body fat 17.7% ; trainer lady said that is normal for age group 30-40 but not excellent. Thoughts?? 8-12% is supposed to be excellent (athlete level) I want to be excellent- any tips?? Also this may be a repeat-but should I start taking creatinine or not to increase muscle. I lift weights & am not completely out of shape anymore but don't have a muscular frame.

No. From what you are saying you need more of a check on diet and cardio. Possibly lifting the same weight as you are doing but with less of resting period between sets. Creatine comes in handy, in my experience, when you are trying to bulk up. It does by different mechanism, one of which is absorbing lot of water. In your case it would only make you look more out of shape I fear. Go for some cardio and less resting period and see if cuts down some fat.

I do not think so - most of the 'athletes' that stay in that fat% range (~10% or below) are - Body builders or fitness models (male). Also, just by taking creatine you wont get additional muscle - it helps you to bulk up - but you still need to stick to basics - push harder, heavier, eat more ( more of protein + carbs) and rest...to pack on more muscle. The 'weight' gained by going on creatine cycle is additional water only, which you lose as soon as you get off it. The way it works is, it helps you push harder than you would w/o creatine.
yup dont take creatine if you don't try to bulk up. It will work against it from what i have read. Also it makes you pee in "bulk" lol
Well - if you know how creatine works- you should be able to 'use' creatine to expedite your fat loss too. Think like this - creatine adds at-least about couple of pounds of water weight for an average body/weight and gives a boost to your 'strength'. Now, imagine running/cardio with additional weights and additional strength - compared to w/o it.
