ICC should interrogate Shahid Afridi & Yawar Saeed He is their one day team captain. he told an interview last sunday when the news broke out that he was aware that there is fixing by 7 players in the team. that is why he resigned from test captaincy and retired. he did not have enough evidence to prove it. is that not an important statement? he should be interrogated by ICC ACSU and Scotland yard. Yawar saeed the team manager had said-" if i had cheated you a shilling, you must punish me for a shilling. not for a million pounds."may be ICC should check the shilling cheated acceptance of Yawar saeed too. let us see whether any one in ICC ACSU meet these guys instead of flying over to Pakistan to interview Veena Malik...

in the morning - Yawar Saaed - a PCB member banned the 3 players in the morning - Pakistan HC - Players pulled out due to 'mental torture' :haha: at night - ICC - ICC has suspended the 3 players :hysterical:

So apparently a source has revealed that the same money given to Majid for bribing the spot fixers has been found in Butt's room. And this fat, out of touch high commission Hassan says these are "Fine upright, young men?" What a douche.

Pakistan envoy slams ICC's suspensions Pakistan's high commissioner to the United Kingdom, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, has claimed that the ICC was "playing to the public gallery" when it provisionally suspended Salman Butt, Mohammed Asif and Mohammed Amir, the three players linked to the spot-fixing scandal, on charges of irregular behaviour under the ICC's Anti Corruption Code. The day after the suspension was announced, Hasan said the ICC had made a "mistake" and that it had "no business taking this action." He told the BBC that cricket's governing body had, "made an assurance to us when it said it would wait until Scotland Yard's investigations were over." Hasan said the ICC chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, was "very sympathetic and supportive" when the two had met at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Thursday. "Whatever evidence we had collected, and whatever information we knew, indicated that the players had not been charged by Scotland Yard. Rather the other party, Mazhar Majeed, was." During the meeting, Hasan said, Lorgat had received a call from ICC president Sharad Pawar. "He talked to him and went out. Suddenly a document was prepared and was pushed under the doors of the players." Hasan's remarks, which reiterated his earlier belief that the players had been "set up", are at the centre of what appears to be the Pakistan camp's discontent with the suspension. Though the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt remains silent on the matter - despite attempts to contact him - another official close to the investigation also questioned the development. The official said that no evidence had yet been shared with the PCB. "We're very surprised the ICC has done this because to my knowledge there had been no indication of this," the official said on Thursday night, after the suspensions were announced. "This is a bit inappropriate doing it now because the Scotland Yard investigations are ongoing and they could have waited till the end of that," the official said. "What if they clear the players of any wrongdoing now?" Pakistan are thought to be unhappy at the number of investigations currently being carried out in the case. "The ICC and ACSU are doing their investigation and helping the police, Scotland Yard are carrying out their criminal investigation and the board is also doing its own internal inquiry," the official said. "This can cause overlapping and confusion and it would've been better to let things happen one at a time." The ICC's move to suspend Butt, Asif and Amir came on the same day Pakistan announced that the players had opted to voluntarily withdraw from the forthcoming limited-overs series in England. Someone needs to tell this "W@nk-jid Shame-ful Hasan" guy that as a sporting organisation (much like a public/private company), the ICC can suspend players under investigation the same as Universities, Banks, Hospitals etc and other institutions can suspend employees under investigation of corruption etc. This issue of "provisional" suspension is NOT directly tied or dependant to a legal investigation that may result in criminal charges. One is governed by legal requirements and laws, and the other follows a code of conduct! Two completely seperate regulations. You would think a diplomatic representative of a country would understand the finer points of this issue but he's just as dysfunctional and confused about this as corrupt Pakistani politics. All he's done is mumble the same tired old bullsh*t about players who are dopers, druggies, fixers, and ball tamperers being innocent and being fine young men who were setup.

There has been an update to the above story - Lorgat rubbishes Hasan's claims. Even the ICC looks a paragon of virtue compared to Pakistani officials!

Lorgat, however, told Cricinfo that this was not the case. "I went yesterday [Thursday] later in the afternoon as a matter of courtesy and met with the High Commissioner and Ijaz [butt] and explained to them we will be serving the notice by the end of the evening if we are completed with our work, which we did," Lorgat said. "I obviously couldn't give all of the details due to matters of confidentiality, but they were aware we were busy with our investigations and we were close to conclusion, and that were likely to serve notice by the end of last night." Lorgat said that the ICC had not suspended the players without the PCB's knowledge. "I didn't do it without his [ijaz Butt's] permission. I spoke to Mr Butt on the telephone before going public. He said he is fine. In fact, I asked him to join us when we served the notice. He said he was fine and he would sent the Pakistan security manager."

11.47am: Lorgat confirms he met with the Pakistan high commissioner, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, yesterday but claims he told him that he would be suspending the three players. Hasan told the BBC this morning that Lorgat told him he would not be suspending the trio. Wajid is a joke loll
